Sammy Watkins for Picks++

This trade would be for a team I recently took over in a MASSIVE rebuild and was offered to me. I'm looking for a young WR to anchor my team around, and I think Sammy could do that. The problem: I'm trying to acquire as many picks as possible (I was left with basically nothing for picks, or any young assets in general) and this is unloading both of my 1st round picks for me next year. I had just acquired one of them, along with Eifert and Kevin White. This is for team 3 in my sig, full PPR, 0.2/rush, QB RB RB WR WR WR TE Flex starting reqs.

I'm considering countering by dropping either one of the 2018 1sts or 2.03.

That's what I was thinking. If the team I inherited wasn't in shambles, I'd consider it more deeply. My objective is to acquire as many assets as possible, and this reduces my assets greatly IMO. The team is in a multi-year rebuild, and while the trade may be somewhat close in a vacuum, I feel like my situation says "DON'T DO IT!"

If I were to execute this trade, I'll need to flip Newton, Brees, Fitz, and Hurns (which I'm already trying to do) for as much as possible, because I've got no high-end picks left, and literally zero RBs with any sort of upside.

Keep the picks... You aren't going to compete this season and two 1sts in 2018 is a good place to start rebuilding IMO... Try shopping one of your QBs to acquire a pick THIS season maybe? Is there a team that might give a good pick for Brees coming off the year he had?

Brees is one I've been pushing hard. I'm trying to get a late 1st this year or a 2018 1st for him. If it was a superflex league he'd probably be gone already. I've also offered Cam for the 1.8 and a 2018 1st to an elite-QB needy team. I'm also trying small package deals with Larry (Larry and the 2.03 for a late 1st/2018 1st and the like) trying to sell one more solid WR1/2 season.

Hold onto the picks. Honestly, the chances of Sammy's value increasing over 2 1sts just isn't that great. No matter how awesome of a season he has in 2017, people are always going to have the injury thing in the back of their mind. You're buying him a lot closer to his peak value than people will care to admit.

watkins risk/reward is something i wouldnt want to build a team around. In your case id hold the picks.

If you can find a way to keep your 2018 first and flip other assets, I'd buy Watkins and build around him. Watkins plus your likely early '18 first would be nice building blocks for the future.
