1.07 for 2018 1st + 3.03?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.07 for 2018 1st + 3.03?

Postby TTHTD » Sun Apr 16, 2017 8:52 am

I would be getting 1.07 and I also have 1.03 and 1.06. It'd be nice to have back-to-back picks and it should give me some decent leverage for trades come draft day. Talent wise there seems to be a tier drop at 1.07 but it should also give me a guy with decent talent in a great situation. It's a 10 man league and my team is probably going to be middle of the road unless I get a few breakout seasons, which isn't unlikely. Also that makes 3.03 pick 23 overall. Should I make the trade?

Since It's non idp I keep the 1.07.

Is the 2018 predicted early late middle of the road? Unless you think it'll be early keep what you have

I just don't see a huge difference in the 1.07 - 1.10 or 2.1 in your league. If you're targeting a certain guy it may not be a bad move but its one I would certainly wait to make until after the draft.

Only when the pick is on the clock and one of the top 6 falls to the 1.07. Otherwise, I wouldn't be doing this deal right now. I think that 2018 1st will be earlier than later.

When the pick is OTC and one of the top 6 slips to 7 this deal will no longer be on the table! We all know the price for current draft picks goes up, not down during the draft. Especially when someone unexpectedly slides.

Then I guess I wouldn't want to pay this unless I knew I was getting one of the top 6 rookies for sure. If the other owner doesn't take it during the draft, then so be it, but I'll be glad I didn't get stuck with John Ross or someone else I don't like.

What exactly is he paying though? Pick 23 and a future 1st that's probably anywhere from 1.4-1.8? Seems like a decent price to get into middle of 2017 this year. Even if none of the predraft top 6 slides the likelihood that tier 2 grows post draft is very high. In 12 team leagues I'm seeing 1.10-1.12 moved for future firsts + so getting 1.7 for that is a good deal.

Lastly you're not really getting stuck with anything. This is a very liquid asset. If you really don't like it when OTC sell it. Someone else will like it more than you and will pay more than 3.3 and 2018 1. If they don't (very unlikely) sell it for a slight loss. It's much more likely that you can gain from this deal than lose from it, however.

I would hold also. If you're holding 1.03 and 1.06, you are able to grab a guy that slips. If you think you will be in the middle of the pack next year then the 2018 doesn't change and you keep your dart throw on the 3.03.

i'd much rather have 1.07 than a 2018 1st and 3.03. This is coming from a guy that trade 1.07 yesterday for 1.12 and an 18 1st. Value is only going up. Get 1.07 if you can.
