1.01 for Allen Robinson straight up?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.01 for Allen Robinson straight up?

Postby roofy61 » Sat Apr 15, 2017 6:36 pm

I've been offered 1.14/1.15 and 2018 1st for the 1.01. It is three firsts but feel like it's not enoughas the picks are so late. Was going to counter for Robinson and maybe 1.14?16 team IDP PPR. Would you take Robinson straight up or ask for a bit more.

ARob > 1.01 all day. But it doesn't hurt to ask for more. I assume this is a 16-team league? Studs are hard to come by in a deep league like that. I'd ask for for ARob + 2017 2nd and that 2018 1st. You need the extra juice to deal a stud in a deep league.

Agree. Arob for me as well. However, that first offer was so terrible that I doubt your trade partner gives up ARob for the 1.01.

The dude isn't being serious about acquiring the 1.01 it doesn't seem. Or maybe he is just hoping you don't know better. I'd say Arob and the 2018 1st. My guess is he won't even counter since he was never legit.

There's been so many different versions of this trade asked over the offseason. Robinson for 1.01? Hopkins for 1.01? Gurley for 1.01?

Take the proven talent. Rookies have the advantage of no NFL sample size. That means we've never seen them have an underwhelming season. All we have are thoughts of upside and potential dancing in our head. But the second they underachieve (and they will), there will be threads asking about trading them for the next new toy with no sample size.

I wouldn't have taken that trade but only because I'd have had an excitement induced heart attack before getting to my computer to accept.

Arob over the 1.01 but, as others have said, try for some more since he's kind of a buy low to many after last season.

ARob is not really proven. There is a lot of risk there. These guys that have a down year early in their careers very often never come close to regaining the value they once had.

Braylon Edwards, Trent Richardson, Doug Martin, etc. All "proven" guys who combined for 1 more good season between the three of them after they hit their "slumps".

You forgot another one: Calvin Johnson. Oh, wait.

Braylon Edwards is an idiot, Trent Richardson had a ton of off-field issues that caused his decline and Doug Martin has way too many injuries. But, here's a list of players who had at least 80 receptions, 1400 yards and 10 touchdowns in one of their first three seasons:

Jerry Rice
Sterling Sharpe
Isaac Bruce
Randy Moss
Larry Fitzgerald
Demaryius Thomas
A.J. Green
Odell Beckham
Deandre Hopkins
Allen Robinson

Feel free to play against the talent and the odds, especially when we know the reason he had a down season is mostly on his QB. A 23-year-old WR with a WR1 season is a lot more proven than any rookie.
