Jeremy Hill and Mike Wallace

Postby georgetown » Fri Apr 07, 2017 7:24 pm

A guy in my league offered both Jeremy Hill and Mike Wallace for pick 2.10 for Team 1 below.

I don't really love it and would rather take a shot on a rookie at 2.10 but ADP would suggest that I take the deal.

What do you guys think?

You need an rb but I'm not sure hill is the answer. I feel like 2.10 might be better

You have 6 picks before the 2.10. I'd take the deal based on value alone.

TE : Njoku, Hockenson, Eifert
2020 Picks: RD1, RD2, RD3, RD4

12-Team, 28 Man Roster (includes 2 Taxi/2 IR), 10 Starters (1QB/2-4RB/2-5WR/1-4TE), 1 pt PPR (TE 1.25)

QB: Stafford, Rosen, Lock
RB: Chubb, Hunt, McKinnon, Bernard, Barber, Ballage; Devy: Akers, Hubbard
WR: AJG, Adams, Allen, Marv Jones, Enunwa, Allison, Coutee, Foster, DT, A Wilson, R. James, Seth Roberts, Metcalf, Harmon; Devy: T Johnson
TE: Walker, Shaheen, Dissley, Arnold, Warring

Ehh, Hill and Wallace aren't going to be helping you win. Unless you think you can flip them for something better, keep the pick.

I would take the veterans. You can start both in a pinch

Roster cloggers.
You've got the other owner wanting to move them, clearly. Counter for a one of them and a better player that you do want for your next highest pick. Something in that vein. My bet is you get a good deal out of this because the other owner has getting rid of Hill and Wallace on their to-do list.
TEAM ONE
12 Team PPR League / 5pt passing TDs

You need RB's, but you are deep at WR. There are probably 5-6 RB's in this draft with more upside than Hill and you are giving the 22nd pick in draft up for him? Don't do it. And forget Wallace. Use that pick on Cooper Kupp or some other long shot. You have plenty of opportunity to get a great RB with the picks you have.
Rollin with Mahomes
10 team, standard dynasty league, roster 22, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 DST, 1 K First Year 2018 runner up
QB- Mahomes, Winston
RB- Drake, Carson, Thompson, Chubb, R Jones, Darrel Williams, Penny, Samuels
WR- Julio, Mike Williams, JUJU, Golladay, DJ Moore, McLaurin, D Johnson
TE- OJ, Hooper
IR- Butler, Guice
TS- D Henderson, J Hill
2020- 2 firsts, 2 seconds, 3rd, 4th, 5th.

I can see why you're struggling over this deal. Your RB corps is so bad that Hill would arguably be the RB1 on your team, but your WR corps is so good that Wallace would be no better than your WR8. And while there may, in fact, be 5-6 RBs in this draft with more upside than Hill, 2-3 of them are going to be off the board before you make your first pick at 1.04.

I think you definitely need to take advantage of this buy-low opportunity on Hill, but you need to get Wallace out of the deal. I like cvbuc's idea of adding something on your end for Hill + a piece you can actually use, like another RB or at least a WR with better trade value than Wallace that you can try to flip for another RB. If you posted his roster and picks, it'd be easier to come up with possible counters.

I think Hill alone is worth more than that. I would take the deal if presented to me. I imagine you could combine him with a 2nd and get into the 1st round even if you aren't a fan.

Hill won't be a Bengal forever and he is still really young. What if he goes and becomes a good comp. back in 2 years? 2nd is a steal

Between the two of you, you seem to have the WR market mostly cornered. I would take the deal and then look to move a WR to a WR needy team for either a RB upgrade or another RB.
All I Der Is Win - 16 Team IDP League (Pass TD 6pts)

QB - Stafford, Stroud, Tune
RB - Swift, Hall, Penny, Bigsby, Ford
WR - Pittman, Olave, Di. Johnson, G. Wilson, J. Williams, Metchie, Robinson, M. Wilson
TE - Okonkwo, Schoonmaker
LB - Brooks, R. Smith, Phillips
DL - Crosby, Allen, Simmons
DB - D. James, Baker, Delpit
K - Just a stupid kicker

I think even West would be a better throw-in than Wallace in your particular situation. You could maybe even try for something like Henry and Hill for Keenan or Crowder+.

Ultimately though, if he won't budge, just take the original deal. As others have said, Hill is worth the pick by himself, especially with your RB situation.

Injuries, bye weeks and down years start piling up and Hill and Wallace will be solid fill in's for you. 2.10 is a long shot for a contributor.
