Rishard Matthews

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rishard Matthews

Postby typmakings » Mon Apr 03, 2017 12:53 pm

Was offered Rishard Matthews for 3.03 and a 2018 3rd in a PPR best ball league. (My team is listed below) I feel like this is a low offer when Rishard had 950 yards an 9 TDs last season. Thoughts?

I see he is in your signature. So when you say you were "offered Rishard Matthews for 3.03 and a 2018 3rd," does that mean you already accepted or just worded it wrong? If you are trading him away, it's not horrible value. If you acquired him, it wasn't much to pay. It's just not a sexy trade.... If Corey Davis or Mike Williams are drafted, I'd rather have the picks i guess. I don't know....

Final Answer: I guess I keep Matthews because he may be more useful than a couple of the other guys on your roster in a best ball league. He does find the end zone with some regularity.
16 Team PPR 1 QB - 2 RB - 2 WR - 1 TE - 1 Flex
QB- R.Wilson, B. Mayfield
RB- D. Cook, Zeke, J. Jacobs, J. McKinnon, A. Collins, I. Smith, B. Hill, R. Armstead, M. Boone
WR- J. Smith-Schuster, T. Boyd, C. Sutton, M. Brown, H. Ruggs, S. Miller
TE- G. Kittle, Enron, C. Herndon
'21 Picks- 1.12

Sorry I worded it wrong. He is on my roster and someone offered to trade for him. My roster is definitely not a sexy roster, but in best ball my receivers are under rated I feel when 3 of them are 1,000 yard guys last season.

Counter with a 2nd instead of the two 3rds.

The owner doesn't have a 2nd in 2017

Then ask for the 2018 2nd and 2017 3rd. But don't settle for that initial offer.

Reject, no counter. Matthews isn't a stud by any means, but his production is worth a lot more than that.

This is my thoughts on him exactly, but wanted to get a feel for how others viewed him. IMO he's pretty consistent and should be better this year after forming a relationship with Mariota.

Would you expect someone to give up a 1st for him though? I think asking for a 2nd and 3rd is decent value for him.

I don't see anyone doing this but I could see his value at a late first round pick as long as he is the number one in Tennessee, but like I said I don't see anyone doing this.

So if you agree that no one would give up a 1st and that his value will only go down if Tennessee drafts a WR, why not get the most out of him now? Having him on your team only hurts you in my opinion, because you shouldn't be trying to compete this year and get as early of a pick as you can next year. If you want to hold out and hope they don't draft a WR and he starts off hot, then you obviously can get more for him in-season and I wouldn't blame you for doing that as well.

Also keep in mind that Mathews was very underused in Miami. He has always been good just never really had the opportunity. I am a die hard Dolphins fan and Was sad to see him go. His first year in Tennessee was nothing short of a success. Often receivers struggle switching teams. Mathews did not. He will always be one of those undervalued guys because he just has not had a sexy career. No way I move him for that junk. Even if the Titans draft Davis, I expect him to be a solid WR2-3 type with the ability to have WR1 weeks. The fact that it is a bestball league makes his production even more valuable because you dont have to guess. Easy pass.

Matthews easily here, and I expect him to be a great value as well as Mariota's #1 target this year.
