Trade away AJ Green for Hilton and Doctson?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade away AJ Green for Hilton and Doctson?

Postby cvbuc » Mon Mar 06, 2017 5:15 pm

Team 1 in sig below.
Was just offered Hilton and Doctson for AJ Green. Fair/even? Ask for more?

I'm really gauging what the consensus thoughts are on the value of AJG. As he hits his age 29 season, is the time to sell now? I don't want to be a year late.

Is this the type of offer to go for: a proven top 15 guy and young WR with tons of upside?

Personally, I don't feel like this is enough. But I also know that the dreaded age 30 is fast approaching Green and that I probably will not get a haul like this next offseason. Thoughts? Appreciated.

I'd keep AJG. He's only 1.5 years older than Hilton, so age doesn't make that much of a difference in this case. I'm also not as high as others on Doctson, so to me, he doesn't close the gap.

Yep! AJG is still AJG age doesn't bother me would need more added on to move him! He's a top 3 stud when healthy!

I didn't realize Hilton was that old. Not that he's old at all. I just had the notion in my head that he was ~25, not 27.
I'd keep Green, and I like Hilton. Green is just so good

It would take more than Doctson added to Hilton to make me trade Green, and I really like Hilton.

Put AJ on the block and see if you can get a better offer, but let the owner with this offer know you are going to shop him.

Their ADP is almost identical currently. And I believe that TY has outscored AJG two of the last three years. Just a couple things to consider.

This may depend on you league and how talent is divided amongst the teams, but I personally think you should go all in on a rebuild. You have a couple of studs, but I don't think you have the depth to compete. Trade Bell, Green, Marshall, Graham, Benjamin and Murray for some younger pieces and picks. I would trade Murray and Benj because I don't particularly like them. Maybe target seconds and thirds this year since I believe this to be a deep draft and load up on 18 firsts. Bell and Green should get huge hauls and should kick start a quick rebuild.

I think it comes down to how you view Doctson, if you like Doctson then I say take it.

I'd take the Hilton side. He's just as capable as AJG any given week so you're basically getting Doctson almost free.

I'd keep Green here but only because Doctson doesn't do it for me. I do think this is a great move though strategy wise. Your production barely dips, if at all, and you acquire a prized prospect. If you love Doctson, then go for it.

All of the above!

Unless he pulls a Calvin (which is impossible to predict), I don't think Green is in any imminent danger of falling off the cliff. Thirty isn't so bad for receivers...I have Green in the Fitzgerald category all the way. So you don't have to feel the need to sell him off now before its too late.

However, if you're a Doctson believer, this is a great deal for you. You need young depth at receiver and as pointed out by skip and jason3123 above, Hilton basically gives you Green's numbers and you add in Doctson's upside for free.

But I agree with Plank as well...if you've come to the point where you'll consider dealing Green (and you have), send some offers out. Maybe you like Allen Robinson and Kevin White more. Green is a big name and will draw big offers...typically the biggest hurdle in a big name deal is the team with the big name is gun shy about getting too little in return.

Green is a stud, but moving him in the right deal makes sense. And ultimately, yes I'd do this deal.

Agreed. Hilton is younger and has a much better situation with Luck. I'd definitely take the deal unless you hate Doctson.

I think you can make arguments for both sides; hilton has better QB long term and they built up chemistry that will last long. AJG to me still has higher ceiling and is better player but also has more uncertainty around QB. My gut would proably still be with AJG.
