Who to keep: Allen or Edelman

Who to keep: Allen or Edelman

Postby CAMVP » Mon Mar 06, 2017 5:13 pm

For team in sig, I can only Franchise tag one or the other, Thoughts on who you guys would keep. Also, our league allows us to flip 0 year players to any potential buyers that still can use their tag. So whichever one I don't keep I can still trade. Although the best offer so far was a 4th round pick for Allen.

I'd keep Keenan easily over Edelman.

Can you keep a franchise tag additional years? Tag two years in a row? If not I'd be inclined to keep Edelman. I thank I'd bet on him to safely be more productive than Keenan will be next year unless the patriots get Cooks

Funny how everyone keeps discounting Edelman's production. Allen has talent and youth on his side, of course, but his one truly great year was four seasons ago. If I were a contender, this would be a very close call, and I might even go Edelman, especially in PPR.

And that youth does not matter if the franchise tag rules are a year and then mandated free agency.

Allen. Unless I misunderstood some sort of salary cap issue, how is this even in question? I don't think any owners across my 4 leagues would take Edelman over Allen.

Exactly - not even mentioning Edelman has been a fringe WR1 3 of the last four years, while Allen has done it once. Two year window? I take the favourite receiver of the GOAT.

To clarify, the franchise tag is a one time only thing, so I would only have the player for one year. I was leaning Allen, but being a contender, I feel Edelman is the safer player on a 1 year deal.

Remember, it's not Allen vs. Edelman for one year.

It's Edelman plus a 4th-round pick vs. Allen plus... (could you get anything for Edelman in a trade?)

Who are some likely available players in the fourth round?

QB: Herbert, Love, Rodgers, G Smith, Stidham, T Taylor, Hall

2025: 2nd (x2), 4th, 5th (x2)

12 tms 22 active plyrs. Salary Cap $300 PPR

Yeah I was going to mention that. If there's nothing on the table for Edelman, but Allen could garner a pick, all the more reason for me to side with putting the tag on Edelman.
