Right now I think that's a steal. Maclin is worth a late First/early second

IF we see 2 top prospects rip up the combine and then both get drafted highly by great situations (Foreman goes to Oakland, Mixon goes early to Indy, JuJu runs a 4.48 and goes late 1st to Atl or Tampa, etc), then maybe the 1.06 skyrockets in value. Until then, this would be a win for you hands down

I agree that the value is there, but I disagree on the value of Maclin. He has had one good year in his 7 year career. Other than the 2014 season, he has been a JAG. I wouldn't pay more than a later 2nd for him at this point. I'd much rather have the guys that are around the same ADP...Martavis, Lockett, Perriman, M. Jones, Meredith, Edleman...I'd take every single one of those players over Maclin. Again, I agree that the value is probably on your side of the deal, but I'd try to get a different piece, or flip him asap after you make this deal.

He's averaged a 68/912/7 line over his seven year career. I figured in fairness, since he had his worst year ever this year (due to some injuries and such), and since I singles out his best year by far (2014), I'd throw both of those years out just to see if that changed the averages. It didn't. In those five years he average a 69/906/7 line. There were literally 34 WRs in 2016 that hit those averages. So, in my opinion, Maclin is just another guy, and closer to a WR 4 than a WR2. If you like him though, that's cool. We can agree to disagree on his value. I do think his perceived value is higher than his actual value, and anyone selling should try to get a late 1st/early 2nd as you suggested. I just know I personally wouldn't pay more than a late 2nd to acquire him.

Edit: Actually 31 WRs. Three of those pass catchers were TEs.

Maclin's value is down now from where it has been in the past but he was FAR from being just a guy. He finished at least twice as a WR1 (top 12) and otherwise was still a very reliable yearly option. Sadly he is stuck on the Chiefs now.

Maclin's rookie year: In 15 games he gets 56/773/4. That's a very good rookie line.

Year 2: 70/964/10. Fantastic 2nd year

Year 3: 63/859/5, but in only 13 games!

Year 4: 69/857/7, in 15 games. So he was a low end WR2

Years 5 & 6 he was a beast. Low end WR1/high end WR2. 85/1318/10, and 87/1088/8

This year has been the first year of his career where he's actually been disappointing.

Again, we can agree to disagree. You obviously like him and that is fine. I don't. The 67/912/7 average for his career is decent, but not spectacular. He had one "beastly" year in my opinion (2014), and he was paid handsomely for it. But I think it's easy to find WRs that will produce 67/912/7 type lines. Like I said, there were 31 such guys this past season. But if you like Maclin, good for you. We value this particular player differently.

I agree with Brian. Maclin was a big name that was injured early in his career but he did produce when he was healthy. He had a big year with Chip Kelly and did surprisingly well with Alex Smith last year. But this year, he definitely hit a wall and injuries played a part but that offense isn't built on high passing volume. I don't think 2016 is what we can expect going forward, but I wouldn't count on his past years expecting him to get back to those numbers. I think his career average that Brian posted is about what we can expect, and that's a decent WR3.

I think he's a good buy for contenders if they can get him for a mid-2nd, but I don't really see him being any different than a guy like Kenny Britt honestly, and the market value gap is pretty significant right now.

As for the deal, I would definitely move that pick if the 2018 1st was also included instead of Maclin.

It all depends on which players you may like or covet in the draft. If there is a real exciting player you like that should be available at the 6th pick, no. And reverse is true, if there are 2 players you really like that are closer to 2nd round talent, then yes. If I wanted one of the top 8 players and would feel great about getting one of them, then why trade down and miss out. If you like the 10-20 players almost as much as the 6-8 players, then trade down.
