Nicks or Colston?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Nicks verses Colston

Who would you rather have if you had my dynasty team below?

Who has the higher ceiling?

I would rather have Colston. I think their ceilings are similar but there's no guarantee that Nicks will reach his even though Colston may have reached his already.

Do I really have to answer this??

Nicks for me. I think he has a higher ceiling than Colston and will produce similar numbers this year....

Colston has top 10 talent. Nicks might have a chance to reach the top 20. Colston and its not remotely close.

I'd go with Nicks. I think colston gets lost in that offense at times and I'm not convinced he becomes the no.2 option behind Meachem. Not saying that's likely but Meachem seams to be more explosive. If he improves his rout running Meachem could become the goto guy. On the other hand, I expect Nicks to not only become the No.1 WR with the Giants but I think he's the next breakout WR. I just traded Djax for him & Henne. Not only do I think Nicks puts up more points than DJax this year, I think he's on his way to being a top 10 WR this year. And building on that in the years to come.

First of all, that is an awesome team!!!

I think they would have similar value on that team, so I go with Nicks because he is 5 years younger.

x2

I think Nicks has a lower floor, but a higher ceiling than Colston. Your team can afford to take the risk in order to keep it young and a perennial contender (although its hard to imagine any other team in a 16 team league competing with yours).
Year 2 | 12 team | Standard | .5 PPR | rtrn yrds | 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/TE, 1 RB/WR/TE, 1 TE, 1 K, 2 each IDP (big play)

Q: Stafford, Ben, Locker, Kaep
R: Run DMC, Mathews, JStew, M. Bush, D. Wilson, Jennings, D. Scott, Tanner

T: Gates, Allen, Moeaki
K: Janikowski

Not sure how he isn't in the top 20 already???? In a dynasty format he should be firmly in the top 20 IMO...and yes I have Maclin there too :D

I like Nicks going forward for most of the reasons already mentioned.. Brees is starting to throw the ball around more and more to guys not named Colston and I feel Nicks has a chance to be a top 10 guy in the near future.. With that team though, who cares! I honestly don't see anyone touching you for years, that is actually the most dominating team I have ever seen in a 16 team league EVER.. Nice work

Even if I conceded top 20, he's well outside of the top 10 and I see no reason to downgrade from Colston to accept Nicks unless I were getting something on the back end. Here we are discussing both players on the same team. Colston is the easy choice, imo.

Nicks due to age and he doesn't have to compete heavily for targets.

Colston - Saints have a better passing attack and a high scoring offense. Saints may have more weapons, but Eli is more likely to have those games where he throws for less than 200 yds with only 1 TD.
ECFFL (Commissioner) - Mullet Mullitia
Gridiron 3 - Hamden Hawks
UDL - Connecticut Cowboys

I'm liking the debate so far and it's a tough call for me.

I want to just interject something and then go back to reading some other people's insights on this.

People are saying that Colston may have more competition for targets because of Meachem, Bush, etcetera. But, isn't Nicks also playing on a team that had a different WR catch 107 passes last year in Steve Smith? And, doesn't Manningham look like he's breaking out and coming into his own just as much as Meachem? Some people had Manningham ranked as the best WR prospect in his rookie class. That's not to mention Barden, who is a huge target and is having a great camp this Summer so far going into just his 2nd season.

I like both Nicks and Colston a lot. Just wanted to get some thoughts from you guys.

Thanks for the input so far.

Good points Kris but talent prevails IMO. Manningham had some nice games I will give you that. But as a whole he ran poor routes, his overall awareness is borderline at best and he dropped several easy and critical passes. I think Smith and Nicks compliment each other well. THey are a potent 1a and 1b IMO.
