Fuller vs Abdullah or K. Dixon POLL

Postby TheGunSlinger » Fri Dec 30, 2016 5:19 am

On a major rebuilder and I need some RB help. I was offered either Abdullah or Dixon in a deal for W. Fuller? Of the three and on a rebuilder, who would you rather have? Team is in the signature below

I like Abdullah's talent the most, but Dixon has the clearest path to getting 60%+ of the backfield carries. I would want Dixon over Abdullah at the moment.

Dixon for me and its not close. Abdullah is too small for the nfl, he is a gagit player who is impossible to start because of injury, inconsistent use and a team that has not been able to run the football in 20 years.

I don't know if I have ever seen a player drop more balls than Fuller. His hands are awful. His QB blows and he has to content with Hopkins on a run first team.

Dixon is the one.

I'd want Fuller the most.

That said I think we have some folks suffering from short term memory loss. Abduallah was not a "gadget" player and was handling nearly all 3-downs before getting injured. He was also doing a better job than Dixon. Additionally Dixon was a 5th round selection and his dynasty value is being propped up by the fact that many owners reached for him in the late first round of rookie drafts because there were only 2 (maybe 3 with Prosise) good to decent RB options in 2016. Abduallah was a 2nd round pick. He has real talent and is maybe 5-10 pounds under the ideal size for an NFL back at 5'9" 205lbs. I'd much rather have Abduallah going into this offseason. That said I'd take Fuller above both RBs unless you firmly believe this is the best you can do and you plan to compete heavily next year.

Fuller has to get stronger before he can handle the NFL. And while I don't disagree with jcc on Abdullah's size, hasn't Dixon shown he has the size and skills to handle the position. As far as draft pedigree, I believe Dixon ended up lower due to injury concerns, not skills.

Definetly Dixon as well. He has a clearer path to more carries than Abdullah and Fuller's situation is horrible as are his hands.

Abdullah, hoping for a big bounce back next year. In that offense there is potential for a major rebound. Dixon is nice but not sure he is going to be the boss with the Ravens.

Who will be the "boss" for the Ravens?

Abdullah will not be the boss in Detroit.

Fuller is not worth keeping on a rebuilding team. There are other WRs with better hands and QB situations that you could take a flier on.

You make good points, I respect your opinion, but I disagree. Lions are my team. I watch every game. You are forgetting, the Lions are a bottom third running team, usually around 28-32. Their run blocking is poor, very poor. Abdullah fumbles a lot, still. So if his size didn't turn you off, his goal line usage should. If he ever scores 5 touchdowns in a season it would be a high water mark for him and would be the result of a long play more than red zone usage. He is not what you would call a great receiving RB either, which is strange given his already limited RB abilities. Not questioning his speed, vision, cut, but a RB has to block and protect the ball in order to be used enough in a game to start on a fantasy roster.

You mention people over drafted Dixon, I would counter with, have the Lions ever over drafted anyone? YES

but he sure is looking more and more like it as the season goes on, he's trending. If we knew for sure, we would not be having this discussion. It would be Dixon hands down.

After all of this, the other owner got cold feet and pulled Adbullah and Dixon off the table for Fuller, and countered with CJA. So, I took that one without hesitation.

Now, the owner wants M. Mitchell or Meredith for Dixon.... Not ready to move Mitchell or Meredith for Dixon, am I wrong there? I could counter with T. Boyd for Dixon? Thanks for all the discussion!

I like how Mitchell has developed this season and would hold him. However I would move Meredith for Dixon. Chicago showed they wanted to feed Kevin White when he was healthy so I believe Meredith saw his peak usage with White out. I know it's a small sample but I liked what I saw from Dixon when he has handled the ball.
