In Semis: Trade for Farrow

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

In Semis: Trade for Farrow

Postby bill » Thu Dec 15, 2016 12:10 pm

So I've stumbled into the semis for the team in my sig. I'm a heavy underdog, due to a decimated roster. I've got the ability to trade for Farrow to just jump back a bit in the second round of our 2017 rookie draft. So here's the question:

Would you trade 2.04 for Farrow and 2.06? Seems reasonable with a deep draft class. However, if I have very little chance to win, is it worth moving back a few spots? Then again, it's the semis, and YOU PLAY, TO WIN, THE GAME.
12 team non-ppr, 4 pts passing TD, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/RB/TE flex, 20 position players(non K, DST) roster spots

QB- Allen, Wilson
RB- Hall, Hunt, Sanders, Dobbins, Edmonds, Gainwell, Foreman
WR- OBJ, Hopkins, K. Allen, Julio, Diontae J, Sutton, Samuel, J Williams
TE-Gesicki, Smith

Absolutely. The difference between those picks is negligible. I am surprised you are able to get Farrow so cheaply.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

You're moving back....? If so, I don't like it.

Two picks seems inconsequential but how many times have we been on the clock and our guy goes a pick or two ahead of us? It happens, seemingly a lot. Farrow didn't even do anything last week. You're better off playing some from your bench or making a sneaky WW pickup.

6 receptions and 78 total yards after coming in to replace an injured Gordon. I doubt he's going to find a ww pickup that will score more than that. Those 2 draft spots are nothing. He's basically getting Farrow for free. If you have 1 guy you simply HAVE to have then you should be moving up during the draft anyway.

They were in catch up mode and took away Rivers' downfield options. It was checkdown city all game.

I dont follow your second sentence. You are implying that if you have a target you have to move up for him? All I'm saying is sometimes a guy goes pick 14 and you're left with scraps at 16. Sounds extreme but it happens quite a bit. I wouldn't chase an extra 4/5 points. His bench looks like there are a few solid options.

Who do you see that's a reliable RB2 on his bench? The only guy who's worth starting right now is Dixon...

Ivory, Dixon and Duke don't pop off the page by any means but is Farrow really a better option....?

Dixon > Farrow >>>>> Duke > Ivory
Ivory is still hurt and may not even play this week, and Duke hasn't done much at all this season, especially not with RG3, who would rather scramble around than check it down to Duke. Ronnie Hillman should be active this week and take some of the workload, but Farrow should still be the lead back by a good margin in that backfield.

I dont know how Farrow gets that far ahead of Duke who has shown to be reliable for 50 yards or so. Ivory is a back end RB2 if he goes and he practiced today. He has some nice upside.

One of the big mistakes around here is people who chase "lead backs". How did that go for Matt Jones? Remember when Ware went down and West came in? He fell flat on his face. People forget more carries = more attention from the defense. Mediocre is mediocre.

I'm not saying Farrow is supremely talented or a great long-term asset. I'm saying that purely for Week 15, he is on a much better offense than Ivory or Duke, and he will see a larger portion of touches than either of those guys, which makes him a much better fantasy player for this week. The difference of 2 spots in the rookie draft is a very cheap price to pay for that increase in production.
