What is Bell's Worth in Picks?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What is Bell's Worth in Picks?

Postby uscman » Tue Dec 06, 2016 2:21 pm

I'm wondering for team 2 in my sig. In a complete rebuild, and already have 4 picks this year. There is a team in my league that has the 1.01, 1.02, 1.05, 1.09 1.10 and another late pick this year. Along with a 2018 first. If you were to offer Bell to this guy, what picks would you need?

Not sure I'd do it just for picks with that team. I'd want young player with some upside in addition to two picks. Gotta remember that your 1st's are gonna bust at almost 50%, so I don't see a whole lot of sense in giving up one of the two studs at RB (who's only 24) in a 16 team league for picks alone.

Reasonably TRY for... one of the top 2 picks, either 1.9 or 1.10, and the 2018 1st.

Maybe even try for 1.2, 1.5 and the 2018 1st.

It's always hard getting solid value when you're the one with the stud and trying to initiate an offer with another team. I would post to the league that Bell is available, then let them come to you. At the very least, it will give you an idea of the interest level within your league. If a team (or multiple) come to you, at least you'll have a little bit more leverage to control the negotiations, and possibly drive up the price if multiple teams show interest.

I play in 10 team leagues, if I were in a 16 team league and doing a complete rebuild, I would ask for 1.1, 1.5 and 1.9 with a later pick in 2017. Bell is very valuable, especially in a 16 team league. Instead of going all picks, try and get a proven young stud receiver and QB or TE or RB with a pick, don't fixate on picks, let the other guy take the chance. I generally would rather have a good proven young guy before a draft pick, but you need to try and balance it all.

I would put out a league wide email stating Bell is on the trade block due to rebuilding. This tactic usually gets me 3-5 responses if you're trying to sell a high profile player and there will be a sense of competition for the player because everyone knows. Personally I'd target young guys with upside. I would go for Arob+. Treadwell could also be a good target with some owner giving up already. You may be able to get Alshon Jeffery for super cheap though it'll be a gamble (still only 26).

I'd want the 1.01 and 1.02 if I was forced to deal Bell for picks. That's about the equivalent of 3 firsts. The suspension history is still a big red flag though.

He is only 24 you could keep him for the rebuild. TBH I know it is just me but I view Bell as the #1 dynasty player with DJ and Zek right there I know I am more of a RB guy but he is avg 15 ppg from just yards not to mention he catches 5-10 passes a game and the TDs will come in bulk , he only has 4 TDs this year and still the #2 position player in ppg 3 more than any WR in my league so you know he isn't TD dependant

Bell is a huge risk in dynasty because of his injury history, but even more so for his substance abuse issues. If he gets caught smoking dope again his career is likely over with a one year suspension.

I'd be selling high on Bell to he best possible offer during the offseason.

Agreed. Bell is what you dream a 1.01 or 1.02 pick turns into. To even take that chance I'd need at least both and a little more to make me take the plunge most likely.
