Trade for one game

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade for one game

Postby Flschbrger » Mon Oct 10, 2016 4:07 am

2 QB league and Russell on a bye with Siemian hurt. Started one QB and now down 3 points with my Olsen vs Carolina D

Do I let this ride and hope for the best? I have an owner offering Derek Anderson for a 3rd which woul assure me a victory. I'm 2-2 right now. Obviously a 3rd is a bit much.

I think it depends on how strong your league as a whole is. If you lose the game, how far behind are you in your division? How good is the top team, and is there any reasonable way you can see yourself coming back from 2-3? A 1 week trade to lose a 3rd in a loaded draft class seems steep, but if you are a legit contender and this gives you more control of your fate this year then I think you have to consider it. To me your roster seems like it is able to at least make the playoffs, and you also have to keep in mind that if you do make a run that 3rd won't be anywhere near as valuable. So basically I say take it if you think you can make the playoffs.

I would not trade a third for Anderson in this situation. Cam will be back in a week and Anderson value will be relegated to a handcuff. Unless this guy owns Cam Newton he won't truly value Anderson much at all. I would counter with an email containing a short list of your roster bubble players and a notion that you'll trade any one of them for Anderson. Chances are he picked Derek up hoping to cash him out for something. If he says it's the third or nothing else I would pass on the trade.

Counter point: Anderson is one of the top backups in the league and Cam has already taken enough shots to the head to take down a bull.

I scooped Anderson up in both 2QB leagues during the draft. When the Cam owner came to me I told him I would need a third. A 4th wouldn't even perk my interest at all.

If I felt like I really needed this win then a 3rd is an easy price for me to pay to get one.

It might be too late now, but I'd GLADLY trade a likely late third for a guaranteed win. I'd ask for his last pick back in return, though.
