Startup for superflex. In last round of draft now. How'd I do?

Postby fantasyhermit » Fri Apr 20, 2018 8:40 am

Hello all. We're down to the last draft in my most recent start-up, and I was curious how you all thought I did in my draft. Roster starting reqs are under Team 1 in my signature.

Qb: Winston, Trubisky, bortles, brissett, kizer

Rb: Hunt, Collins, Cohen, Gallman, Richard, Dixon, Gillislee

WR: Beckham, Landry, Tyreek, DT, moncrief, lockett, maclin, Trent Taylor, switzer

TE: burton, brate, Stephen anderson.

1 round left to go, and 2018 rookie pick order will be randomized after this draft is done. How did I do? Thanks!

Love the WRs, but not a big fan of your QBs or RBs outside of Hunt. TEs could also use some help too unless Burton can become a top 10 TE.

I voted fair. RB could use some improvement

Why the heck is the 2018 rookie picks randomized? How the heck is that working?!? You telling me someone can end up with Barkley by luck? That’s crazy.

My exact take-away as well. Superflex should be all about the QB and it looks like you went Beckham/Hunt in rounds 1&2. As a result you ended up with a handful of QB2s and that's not generally a good strategy. The positive with it is that all 3 of Winston/Trubisky/Bortles should be considered "locked in" starters on their respective clubs for the forseeable future and there is upside with Trubisky.

This was my first thought too! Probably the worst way to decide on rookie picks in a startup.

I voted "Good" but if you win the Saquon sweepstakes, it could easily be "Excellent". I like the young QBs. Both Winston and Trubisky are likely to have better 2018 seasons than they had in 2017. Hunt is a good RB but after that you are pretty weak. WR is looking really strong! TE is in decent shape I think. Brate is consistent while not spectacular. I think hes a solid week-to-week TE. Burton is a wait-and-see I think. Personally I think he takes a big step forward this year.

Voted excellent by accident, meant to click good. Your only weakness is RB which isn't terrible to begin with. Hopefully you land a top pick so you can improve your team in that area. I think your QB's are solid for a 12 team, you got three starters and a backup with a possible opportunity to start in Brisset
Team 1: 12 Team PPR IDP League: Start 1 QB 2 RB 3 WR 2TE 2FLEX 2 DL 2 LB 2 DB 2 FLEX 40 Man Rosters
QB: Rodgers, Winston, Tyrod, Lamar Jackson
RB: Mixon, Foreman, D. Booker, Alfred Morris, Ivory, Nick Chubb, Chase Edmonds, Mike Gillislee, Itto Smith
WR: OBJ, Funchess, Tate, John Ross, Phillip Dorsett, Antonio Calloway, Jordan Lasley
TE: Kelce, Hooper, Butt, RSJ,
DL: Bosa, J.J. Watt, Danielle Hunter, Dante Fowler
LB: Alec Olgletree, Sean Lee, Raekwon McMillian, Darius Leonard,
DB: Landon Collins, Kenny Vaccaro, Josh Jones, Jabrill Peppers

Team 2: 12 PPR SuperFlex: Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 SuperFlex, 2 Flex 25 Man Rosters
QB: Russell Wilson, Blake Bortles, Andy Dalton, Chad Kelly, Nathan Peterman

Yeah my weakest spot is rb by far. My thought process though was to wait until rookie picks were assigned and go from there. If I get rotten luck and a late pick, I can probably package that late pick and a Cohen or Collins or even a wr for a better upgrade at rb. If my luck is good and I get an early pick, that also solves the rb problem. As for my qbs, they could be worse. I'm also a big Burton believer, but until he proves it my te spot is a question mark. Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

And yet Bortles has been the best QB of the group. Top 5 in 2015 followed by 2 years in the top 12. Much better results than Winston has had any of those 3 years. He's technically the QB1 on his roster.

Since you’re asking for honest opinions:

I’ll give you an F for joining a startup draft that “randomizes” this year’s rookie draft order afterwards. That is horrible. If I joined a league like that, I would’ve politely protested before ultimately leaving if the commish didn’t get some sense slapped into him.

I also HATE when owners do a startup draft before the NFL draft, and then they do a separate rookie draft in may IN WHICH the rookie draft order is “inverse” of the startup draft. That is stupid too. So in a snake draft, you get the 1.12/2.1 picks in the startup AND Barkley. You’re basically handing the keys to the championship to the guy who was lucky enough to get the 1.12 spot.

You guys should’ve made the rookie draft picks (from 1.1 to 4.12) be draftable during the startup, and then carry out the separate rookie draft in May.

Just my opinion and I hope this can be seen by someone else who stares down a joinable league with this setup and they remember the post and speak up.

Aloha!

I would’ve went QB earlier and worry about other positions later. I would feel comfortable if Winston was your QB2 but having to rely on him and one of Bortles/Mitch isn’t gonna be the recipe to constantly put up high points in a superflex.

RB: Mixon/Chubb/Mostert/Burkhead/McKinnon

TE: Andrews/Hurst
