Rebuilding and got the 1.01 - Best Route to Make This Work?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rebuilding and got the 1.01 - Best Route to Make This Work?

Postby dunkat » Sun Dec 17, 2017 9:39 pm

2nd year in this league and was 7-7 year one to only to make some boneheaded roster moves (sold Mike Evans for Hyde+Moncrief last off season - I think that'll haunt me forever) to end up 1-13 this year. I got the 1.01 and 1.06 plus all my other rookie picks. RB is the only position that's halfway decent otherwise everything else is a dumpster fire.

10 Team Full PPR - QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/3 FLEX - 28 man Roster

QB
  • Luck
  • Bridgewater
  • Flacco
  • Hundley
  • McCarron
RB
  • Hunt
  • McKinnon
  • Abdullah
  • Lewis
  • Duke Johnson
  • Crowell
  • Alex Collins
  • Chris Carson
WR
  • Cooper
  • Arob
  • Humphries
  • Moncrief
  • John Brown
  • Kenny Britt
  • Roger Lewis
  • Albert Wilson
  • Cordarelle Patterson
  • Jeremy Kerley
  • Phillip Dorsett
  • Chester Rogers
  • Geronimo Allison
  • Robinson
TE
  • Doyle
  • Kroft
  • Higbee
RB is the only semi-decent position. Assuming Luck or Bridgewater come back QB is passable so that leaves WR empty except for my top two followed by the TE position. Barkley seems safe at 1.01 and 1.06 I maybe try to tackle the WR position but part of me feels come draft time exploring selling the 1.01 for multiple players/picks. There's clearly no quick way to rebuild this team but wondering if I'm missing something.

You need alot....id hold out with 1 until you get a must accept....and then take it. Preferably proven players and not just 1.

I can see making the pick at 6 or selling. Really depends what you get for 1 and who's available at 6

Personally I’d stick with 1.01 and 1.06. Use the picks on RB/WR. Unless you get offers you can’t refuse. But the odds of that happening aren’t great. What picks do you have in the future

Hold all your picks until the draft rolls around and then shop them around. I would definitely up your roster as you have a few roster cloggers. In a one QB league I would drop all besides Luck. Then I would get rid of guys with limited upside; Kerley, Patterson, humpries, and probably Britt. Pick up guys that could be thrust into bigger roles next year like Keelan Cole, Chris Moore, guys like that. Goodluck

Hold early 1sts until after the draft. People get fever of seeing the hyped guys on good teams as the next Zeke/Bell/Antonio Brown/etc. Even when they're not on great teams, people still feel they'll work out (Fournette) just might need another year (Mixon)

Sell that thing 2 days before the rookie draft to salivating teammates

Keep the picks and just continue building. And stop making trades before you come here to ask for advice.

Realistically you are probably a couple years away from really contending so with that said I would keep your 1.01 and draft Barkley. If you can roll out Barkley and Hunt for the next 5 years I would feel pretty good about that assuming Barkley lives up to expectation. With 3 WR spots and 3 flex spots to fill you really need to concentrate on WRs this year and next. If you can trade your 1.06 for a pick and a starter or for 2 lower 1sts I'd do that and try to hit on a receiver. Maybe you could get a player like JuJu or Kupp for that pick. Keep in mind next years crop of receivers is supposed to be better than last year and this year. Be patient, make smart moves and have fun and you'll be successful.

Hold the pick and draft Barkley unless you get a massive overpay from someone who has rookie fever. If you're intent on trading the pick, wait until your rookie draft rolls around to increase value.

Ha, yeah. Last year was rough. Definitely was relatively green in the dynasty space and misunderstood values especially when it came to studs. There was no sympathy for the new guy so i learned the hard way.

It happens. Unless you start a league with all rookies, it's hard joining an existing dynasty league for the first time with other veterans already in place. Looks like you already learned from it and are on your way to improving that team.

I don't think it's as dire as it could be. There's simply some bad luck in there with Luck, Moncrief, Cooper & ARob. There is some good potential to work with, I would keep adding to it. After the draft you may be able to color up a bit, but point being... Keep the picks

The evans deal was bad. In Cooper and Arob you have 2 guys who should be primed for a solid bounce back. I'd take Barkley at 1.01 for sure but look to trade 1.06 once its on the clock.
