Marshawn Lynch vs Rookies

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Marshawn Lynch vs Rookies

Postby Pet_Smith » Fri Jun 23, 2017 5:08 am

Where would you guys rank Lynch this versus rookies? Our rookie draft is coming up shortly and it includes everyone in the FA pool.

Where would you slot Lynch in?

After Fournette and Davis?
After the "top 6"?
Later first round?
Early second?
Anywhere else?

I drafted him late 2nd in 1 league, was very rb needed and felt I may have gone a little early. In another league he went in the 4th round

Really it all depends. Unless I was 100% in win now mode and had a team that performed very well the previous seasons I would consider him in the 2nd, However one league I run (Team 2 in my sig) he went at 1.07 to a team that thought they were 1 rb away. I wouldn't consider him in round 1 period.

I'd say he should be in the conversation right around the 2.4/2.5 picks. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly that makes me feel he's not going to bust, but there is something about Marshawn specifically as an athlete that excites me for his return, and I don't think he's gonna struggle at all. He is just a monster. He is one of the hardest runners over the past decade, and although those skills do decline, he pops out to me as a guy who will always be a nightmare as long as he's on the field in his career. He's just a very cut and dry player, and opposing defenses know what to expect, but cannot and have never been able to stop him.

Lynch has been discussed ad nauseum on here since the minute the talk started about him coming out of retirement to join the Raiders. Do a quick search and you will find a ton of topics.

I'm not touching him at all in a rookie draft but if I had to put a value on him for someone who thinks he could help them this season, late 2nd/early 3rd. I don't expect him to play half the year nor do I expect him to be very productive. I view him as a liability for both an NFL and fantasy team at this point. I'd rather invest in someone else from that backfield.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Even if I was contending I would have a hard time spending an early to mid 2nd. I just don't believe he still has it. I'm letting someone else spend their pick on him unless I can get him for a 3rd, so I can flip him.

I took lynch at 2.2, but I am contending this year and came in 2nd last year. I consider myself at the high end of the price.

6 RB and at least 3 WR + TE that I would take in front of Lynch. Wouldn't waist a first. Might not waist a 2nd depending on what your RB stock is currently. BPA in my mind at draft time.
THE PYRATES. Terrorizing this league since 2006 - Playoffs (06,07,10,11,13-16,18, 19)

WR: M.Evans, J.Smith-Schuster, C.Ridley, C.Kirk
TE: T.Kelce, C.Herndon

DEF Texans, Seahawks

14-team, 2 division, non-ppr with salary caps. Starts 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, K, DST
Pillage FIRST! THEN burn. Doing it the other way around is pointless.

I contemplated him at 1.11 but wasn't RB needy after drafting Cook in team 1. I took Perine instead. If I was thin (only 1 starter or less) at RB I would have drafted him since I feel like the rest of my roster can compete. Its all situational.

I'm taking the young guys and continuing to build for future. Lynch has 1 maybe 2 years remaining. So too me it also depends on where your team is, contending I'd look in the second rd for him in a rebuild if I could get him in the early third. I'd then hope that you can flip him for a higher pick / high upside young player to a contender, maybe a 2018 2nd, they win the whole thing it goes to a 1st or an additional 2019 2 nd.
