Best 10 players for 2019 Keeper League

Postby ProfPoobah » Mon Dec 03, 2018 3:28 pm

I'm in a 12-team .5 PPR auction league with a $200 cap. Roster is 20 players (start QB/2RB/3WR/TE/K/D), we protect 10 in mid-February (lose everyone else), and keep 0-10 of those in August. We can trade after the fantasy playoffs end after Week 16. Player values go up $5/year, $$ shown below are 2019 #s -

QB - Luck ($13), Winston ($7)
RB - Cook ($27), Michel ($15), Chubb ($11), Ajayi ($8), Guice ($7), R. Jones ($6), McGuire ($6)
WR - Hilton ($44), Diggs ($21), Jeffery ($16), Fuller ($15), Godwin ($9), Sutton ($8), Pettis ($6)
TE - Kittle ($10), Henry ($6)
K/D - who cares?

The core of this group feels like Michel/Chubb/Guice/Diggs/Kittle, to me anyway.

Luck is the #7 QB, and the values in front make this a close call (Mahomes - $11, Big Ben - $8, Newton - $20, Ryan - $11, Goff - $13, Brees - $27). Only Watson is also a cheaper keeper candidate, at $11.

Cook, Chubb, Michel and Guice should all be top 25-30 in 2019 rankings. I had offers for Cook at the trade deadline, but nothing felt right. That said, he is 3 for 4 getting double-digit points since coming back from injury, and is enough of a young name to command a possible trade. You might also feel that he is due for a big year his first full year back from the 2017 ACL injury. He's affordable if I do keep him. The last three are pure speculation. Ajayi was around 25th in points when he got hurt in Week 5, but had already missed a game. He's a free agent. McGuire and Jones, I thought might flash coming back from injuries in December with their teams playing for the future.

Hilton is way overpriced (was a price filler in a trade), but could possibly help fetch a young player. Diggs is a keeper, barring using him in an upgrade. I felt great about Jeffery a month ago. Now, not so much. I grabbed Fuller when his previous owner cut him, would like him even more $2-$3 cheaper, but he's a dynamic #3 WR with serious weekly upside. Godwin (23rd in points, 34th in average) is a guy I like, ready for the fabled "3rd-year WR" thing, though the thing in this case could be Adam Humphries being a free agent and DJax continuing to slow down as he nears 33. Sutton was part of a trade I made before Thomas left Denver, and he's starting to come on a bit. Pettis was a flyer I grabbed last week before the deadline, and he just blew up yesterday, but of course the starting QB there wasn't the guy delivering the passes.

Kittle is the #4 TE behind Kelce, Ertz, and Ebron and far cheaper than the first two for next year ($26 and $19, respectively). No brainer for me. Henry is intriguing. He's a consensus top-12 TE for next year per Fantasy Pros, though that "consensus" runs between #3 (WTF?) and #11 at the position. The Chargers offense without him this year looks good, as a "Keenan Allen and everybody else" kinda outfit.

I'd like to move some of these players as trade chips before I lose them. Some players that would be nice additions without a doubt - Mahomes ($11), Kamara ($15), Conner ($9), Gordon ($32), Cohen ($11), Hill ($20), Thielen ($20), Smith-Schuster ($11), Woods ($11), Boyd ($6), Lockett ($7), Golladay ($10). Other possibilities - Lindsey ($14), Jones ($14), Ekeler ($9), Ridley ($13), Gordon ($11), Ebron ($6), Cook ($7).

So, thoughts on who to keep, who to trade, who to go after? Sorry for so much to read, but thanks for your advice in advance!!

Hmm - 1 QB, 3 RB, 4 WR, 2 TE - $116

I think in your configuration, Jeffery is the #10 spot, in contention with Fuller and Cook. Interesting, and thanks for your take!

Anyone else?
