Garoppolo Advice

Postby GoIllini » Wed Sep 26, 2018 8:20 am

So I have Jimmy G as my QB. The way our league works, more keeper than dynasty. We can keep entire starting lineup but no bench, redraft for bench spots. Do I keep Jimmy G? Always good QBs available in draft, could drop and grab Mayfield now. Could possibly even redraft next fall, guessing nobody will keep him with his current scenario and 10 team league. Interested on thoughts. Thanks.
10 team league (.5 pts per reception)
QB - Hurts / Fields
WR - Chase / AJ Brown / D. Smith / Jeudy / Burks
RB - Barkley / J. Taylor / J. K. Dobbins / Akers / Pacheco / Mattison / CEH
TE - Kmet / Dulcich
K - Butker
Defense - Ravens

With the keeper requirements I’d grab Baker. Plus you will need a bye week fill in, most likely keeping Cousins over him regardless. No brainer to me.

You already have a better and more keeper-worthy QB on your roster than Garoppolo. So, easy to drop JG.

I'll zig while others are zagging here and say roll with Lamar Jackson (I'm guessing that if Mayfield is available he likely is, too) over Mayfield for the future. I'd look at what QBs available have a good Week 10 matchup to fill in for Cousins and run with that guy instead of Baker (whose 2018 fantasy value is a work in progress in which I don't think he will have much starter potential this season), and meanwhile grab Jackson, if available, for 2019. Mayfield is good. But there is a danger they are putting him out there too fast as Cleveland has done to too many QBs already, sapping them of their mojo and self-confidence. Jackson's upside potential in future seasons is greater, IMHO. He's the only rookie who hasn't been tossed into the fire so quickly, too. And they've got RGIII as kind of his personal play-option trainer working with him this year.
QBs: Patrick Mahomes, Trey Lance, Tua Tagovailoa
RB: Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon, Saquon Barkley, JK Dobbins, James Conner, Travis Etienne, Tony Pollard, Brian Robinson.
WR: Ja'Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, Jaylen Waddle, Chris Godwin, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool, Chris Olave, Odell Beckham, Josh Palmer
TE: George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Taysom Hill, Trey McBride, Isaiah Likely
PK: Nick Folk
(IDPs, start two per week per position):
DL: Danielle Hunter, Myles Garrett, Alex Highsmith, Aidan Hutchinson, Chase Young,
LB: Roquan Smith, C.J. Mosley, Logan Wilson, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoa
DB: Derwin James, Jeremy Chinn, Xavier McKinney, Jalen Pitre

* Ten team league started in 2014.
** 40 player roster, 30 Keepers per season.
*** Red denotes 2022 draft pickups.
