Which one of these guys is 'keeper' material?

Postby AtlasShrugged » Mon Sep 17, 2018 6:13 am

In short....I need to make a decision by 09/25/18 to either play or not play the following for this season:
* Jackson, Lamar BAL QB
* Rosen, Josh ARI QB
* Sutton, Courtland DEN WR
* Gesicki, Mike MIA TE

If I choose to bench him for the balance of the season, I will be able to keep him for free next year. The question is, which one of these guys has the biggest value for '19 and beyond?

I agree, unless its a super flex or 2 QB league i'd keep Sutton also.

I would keep Lamar Jackson if you have the patience to wait until 2019 or 2020 to harvest his value. If he hits he is going to hit big, he will sooner than later have that opportunity, and he could very much emerge like Michael Vick did during his peak years, the dominant fantasy QB. Can Sutton become a dominant level WR a la AB or Odell? He's got potential to be a solid perhaps high WR2 but I don't see him emerging as WR1 elite (and I have no great faith in the Broncos QB situation in the short or in the long term).
QBs: Patrick Mahomes, Trey Lance, Tua Tagovailoa
RB: Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon, Saquon Barkley, JK Dobbins, James Conner, Travis Etienne, Tony Pollard, Brian Robinson.
WR: Ja'Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, Jaylen Waddle, Chris Godwin, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool, Chris Olave, Odell Beckham, Josh Palmer
TE: George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Taysom Hill, Trey McBride, Isaiah Likely
PK: Nick Folk
(IDPs, start two per week per position):
DL: Danielle Hunter, Myles Garrett, Alex Highsmith, Aidan Hutchinson, Chase Young,
LB: Roquan Smith, C.J. Mosley, Logan Wilson, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoa
DB: Derwin James, Jeremy Chinn, Xavier McKinney, Jalen Pitre

* Ten team league started in 2014.
** 40 player roster, 30 Keepers per season.
*** Red denotes 2022 draft pickups.

Are you not allowed to keep a player next year if you play him? Or, does the price simply go up? All interesting options depending on the make-up of your league and scoring system. In other words, probably need some more details to answer confidently.
"Marathon Square" - 16 team full PPR league with 24 player roster. Keep 16 per year indefinitely, draft 8. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team DST
QB: Jordan Love, Deshaun Watson
RB: Travis Etienne, Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Kendre Miller, Jaleel McLaughlin, Sean Tucker, Deuce Vaughn
WR: A.J. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, Tutu Atwell, Allen Lazard, Isaiah Hodgins, Xavier Hutchinson
TE: T.J. Hockenson, Cole Kmet, Kylen Granson
K: Didn't make the playoffs in 2023 :cry: , and don't usually hold one in the offseason
Team DST: Cowboys, Lions

Picks:
2024: All my picks except 3rd rounder

Disclaimer: My one and only Championship in this league was way back in 2011. Therefore, take my replies with the appropriate grain of salt. :lol:
