Johnson/Cooper for Thomas/Coleman/picks

Postby Dominus » Thu Sep 13, 2018 6:27 am

For my team in my signature, I'm considering offering the following trade:

Give: D. Johnson, A. Cooper
Get: M. Thomas, T. Coleman, 2019 1st

I really want a second stud WR, although this leaves me with Mixon/Howard as my only starters. I really like Thomas' long-term value, though.

The fact that we can only keep 8 players also means that Picks can be very valuable, obviously. This would put me with three 1st round picks next year.

Does this trade seem fair? Do you think I should move forward on this?

2015 Champion, 2016 Runner-up, 2020 Champion

QB: L. Jackson, W. Levis, A. Rodgers
RB: B. Robinson, J. Conner, Z. Moss, Z. Charbonnet, J. Warren, K. Mitchell, T. Bigsby
WR: A.J. Brown, J. Waddle, C. Godwin, A. Cooper, D. London, J. Smith-Njigba
TE: E. Engram, T. McBride

Picks 2024: 2nd, 3rd

How does an 8 keeper league make picks more valuable? That means you have less spots to develop players and most rookies are developmental. I'd still make this trade but I think its very even. I'd prejer DJ over MT in a vacuum but I have serious concerns Cooper is going to be worthless after this season

I'd be surprised if it gets rejected. 95% of leagues value RB's way over WR's.

You could be right! My thought process has been that I can only keep 8 players, so, I want to collect as many studs as possible and then hold onto a few developing players that I think have significant potential. Trading to get picks seems worthwhile, as a number of quality players will be dropped to the wire before our draft, so, I have a lot of opportunity to draft aggressively to fill any gaps in my roster. I'm essentially hoping to move players for picks early, so that I'm not stuck with a lot of potential that I can't hold on to.

Am I thinking about this wrong? How would you value picks in an 8 keeper league.
