Last minute tinkering: Tight Ends

Postby problemsolver » Sat Sep 08, 2018 2:33 am

10 team league 0.5 PPR. $20 Work league. More worried about the bragging rights than the money. I may have talked a little trash to a few other owners. :D

14 man rosters, start 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 Flex 1 K 1 DEF
About half the owners are inexperienced or brand new.

Team from the thread i started below. Like i said in that other thread this is the first time ive played redraft in about 5 years, so im having a tiny bit of trouble divorcing myself from dynasty valuations. Thats actually why i stopped playing redraft....i kept drafting these teams full of rookies LOL. Im pretty happy with how my team worked out this time though. Except at TE.

(1 pt for every 15 return yards, thus the Lockett/Cohen picks.)

Rivers
MThomas/AJG/Fitzgerald/Arob/Lockett
Gurley/Mixon/McCoy/Lynch/Cohen
OJHoward
Kicker
Baltimore

I waited on TE, drafting Howard in the 10th round. My thought at the time was just grab a guy who is athletically superior and let the chips fall. But now im starting to worry about Cameron Brate and Jameis being suspended, and Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.....

There are more than a few servicable TEs on the WW who will likely dominate their teams TE touches (and presumably be more consistant?). ASJ, Gesicki, Jared Cook, Austin Hooper are all projected to score around the same points as Howard this season. Should i swap one of them for Howard for a more smooth ride? Or stick with OJ and hope for a breakout?

There’s no good answer here. OJ has a year under his belt and may take a step forward, but Gesicki is projected to get a big target share and may have an Evan Engram style season.

I’d opt to trading one of your other pieces plus OJ for a better te like Rudolph or Olsen, then picking up Gesicki for insurance.

I could see Gesicki outscoring OJ but I’d be hesitant to drop him

Why worry about TEs when you don't have to start any?

If that's a typo in your lineup, then, as is, I'd roll with Howard. Other guys will always be available, but he has the most legit upside.
10 tms 27 plrs PPR
Start: 2QB 2RB 3WR 2TE 2Flex / best ball

QB: Herbert, Love, Rodgers, G Smith, Stidham, T Taylor, Hall
RB: McCaffrey, Mixon, Pacheco, Montgomery, Z White, Allgeier, Dillon
WR: Hill, St. Brown, Kupp, Allen, Lockett, B Johnson
TE: Kelce, Kmet, Kraft, Okonkwo, Dulcich, Tremble

2024: 2.09, 3.07, 3.08, 3.10, 4.08
2025: 2nd (x2), 4th, 5th (x2)
2026: 1st, 2nd (x2), 3rd, 4th, 5th

12 tms 22 active plyrs. Salary Cap $300 PPR

I saw the same thing. You're just deep enough to do that too. Have Howard sit and see what he does throughout the year.

Its a typo, i am required to start 1 TE. Why worry? I just tend to overthing things :D

Im only rostering 12 offensive players, so i dont really want to use one on a backup TE. I was more worried that in a redraft valuation that one of the WW guys was a clearcut improvement over Howard. Doesnt seem like there is, so i'll roll with him for now.

Thanks for the advice everyone :)
