Keeper Strategy (4)

Postby MilwaukeesBest » Thu Feb 01, 2018 8:33 am

This is for the team in my signature, Non-PPR with a standard flex. I have some solid Keeper options and we can keep 4 each season. I won last season and have the picks at the 10/11 turn. I am debating whether to package some of my extra talent to move up in the draft or package players for a keeper upgrade.

I am inclined to re-draft a QB, thus moving on from Watson as well as moving on from Dez, considering my other options.
Was thinkng about keeping the 3 RB's and one of Julio/Gronk. I am not married to any of these players so I am open to packaging 2-3 to get stronger as a core.

Looking for opinions on how to move forward, any advice?

I'd go with your 3 RBs and Julio, in redraft standard scoring RBs are key

1. Put your guys on the block. If you get an incredibly attractive offer for one of them, then that makes your decision easy.
2. I'd look to keep Zeke, LJ, and Gronk. Legit difference-makers.
3. I'd target trading Julio. Non-PPR, I think that his perceived value will be higher than his real value. I'd also consider trading Hunt for the same reason.

Any possibility of trading BOTH Julio AND Hunt for a player upgrade and a pick? That would, far and away, be my first recommendation.

Possibility, yes. My first inclination is to package two players for Gurley, Bell, DJohnson or OBJ. All of those teams could benefit from a 2 for 1 scenario, that doesn't mean they will pull the trigger of course. I have also considered keeping 2 RB's and making a play for #41 which will give me a shot to draft Barkley at #1. The guy at #1 has an awful team.

I'd trade a running back or Gronk.

You are a good owner, you know what trades make sense so I won't really waste time there. In this scenario you have to keep Zeke, LF and Hunt. If no trades can be made and there is no news one way or the other on Gronk's retirement I would keep Julio. The difference between Gronk and Julio isn't enough to risk a dead spot. If there is definitive news he is coming back then I would say Gronk, but its close. The Bombers in my signature are doing the same with Gronk or AJG.

You have a solid 4 player keeper core. I would definitely try to package 2 star players and try to get Gurley or Bell. You should be able to make that offer pretty easily, a 2 for 1. Then I might try trading the other players that you will cut and try to improve your draft position if possible. Good luck!
