Joined a 16 team church league

Postby hockeyBjj » Tue Aug 22, 2017 4:14 am

I'm used to 10 and 12 team leagues. How does the large team number affect draft strategies?

Starting lineups are 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 Flex, 1k, 1D

It's ppr and surprisingly only start 2-3 WR. I normally wait late to draft a qb, will I have to get one sooner and even a backup since 16 are being taken to play every week? With only 2 wr and 16 teams, should I prioritize RBs early as they'll get thin fast?

I wouldn't say prioritise RB's per se - here it's much more important to get the absolute best players available in the first 4 rounds. Minimise risk, then for upside later. QB I bet you can still wait on, but you might need to go QB-QB back to back.

Look at where there's a run on, have plenty of strategies - but know your board and try to have your players in tiers.... maybe?

In a larger league it is more important to have a stud player at RB/WR so trade up to get at least one elite player if possible.

Assuming a snake draft I would grab RB/WR/WR/WR the first 4 rounds then get your 2nd RB QB and TE in rounds 5-7. You might be able to do better depending on what the competition does with their picks.
