Howard or Thomas

Postby cape55 » Sat Aug 05, 2017 3:48 pm

Who do I keep in my Yahoo PPR league. I can keep either: Howard RB Chi or Thomas WR NO.

I like both players. I am leaning towards Thomas because he has upside with very little downside. My only reason for keeping Howard is the lack of RB. I have a late pick and all the good runners are gone.

What do you think?

thanks

Funny, I've been texting a leaguemate all day about a possible Thomas/Howard trade and neither of us can figure out a) what a fair offer even is, or b) if we would even do the trade anyway. I currently have Thomas in the 8th and he has Howard in the 14th. I value Thomas higher than Howard, but the six rounds of differnce tip the scales slightly in Howard's favor in my opinion. So, what is a fair combination of picks to make up the difference? I don't know.

To relate it to your situation, it all comes down to team need, but I would lean taking the RB (realizing I'm probably in the minority here). If the Bears O-line can stay healthy, they should be pretty good, so I don't see Howard completely dropping off a cliff as some are predicting. I love Thomas, but he just has a few more question marks this season by virtue of taking over the no. 1 role. I view Thomas has the higher upside, but with a somewhat riskier floor. I think you could easily argue either side.

I am a big Howard guy, but I'd keep Thomas over him pretty easily.

Is this only a 1 player keeper league? If so, I always look at it this way...who has a better chance of still being available at your pick? I know in my leagues there is a better chance of Howard bring gone due to the RB scarcity, which means I would keep him. Try to map out who you think will be kept then do a little mock draft and see who you would end up with at your pick. If you think there would be a nice group of WRs there then keep Howard...if you think there will be a nice group of RBs there then keep Thomas.

X2. However, almost all of the time, the selection at WR is going to be much more plentiful than the selection of RBs with your next pick.

I'd keep Thomas, Brees #1 is just so proven, about as safe as you can go. But Howard isn't a bad choice either. But I'm going Thomas with that decision.

Do you mind helping with mine? viewtopic.php?f=50&t=145703
