Can keep 3, are these the right ones?

Postby D5251 » Fri Dec 02, 2016 2:07 pm

So, our league has a budget of $200. You can keep 3 players for up to 3 total years. If a player was taken off waivers, you get him for 25% of the next year's projected value through ESPN. My choices right now are Carr, ODB and Tevin Coleman. I've posted the players below with their drafted values. Are these the right guys?

12 team, 1 PPR | 1 QB / 2 RB / 2 WR / 2 Flex / 1 TE

Derek Carr - $10
Phillip Rivers - $4

Tevin Coleman - $2
Isaiah Crowell - $3
Frank Gore - $3
Robert Kelley - 25% rule
Kenneth Dixon - 25% rule
Adrian Peterson - 25% rule
Devontae Booker - 25% rule

Odell Beckham - $56
Dez Bryant - $41
Jarvis Landry - $35
Corey Coleman - $5
Tyler Boyd - 25%

Eric Ebron - 25% rule

I don't think so. How much would OBJ likely go for in the auction? I can't imagine for more than $56. If that's the case, then you're not getting any value by keeping him. Indeed, you can just bid on him again.

Carr and Coleman seem far undervalued, and I'd posit that AP would likely garner the greatest value, as well.

Tevin or Corey?

For reference, the most expensive players from this past year:

AP 50

High chance most other than the injured are retained.

T. Coleman.

Thanks for the player values. Definitely NOT OBJ, Dez, etc. Again, you don't "save" any money. You can keep OBJ for $56 or win him again for $56. Carr, T Coleman, and AP would go for far more than what you spend keeping them.

In this format, the primary decision is how much you save in value in each player. Those are the guys to keep almost regardless of position or player quality.

I would pick up CJA just so someone else couldn't get him cheap. Depending on how they handle their injuries and rehab, I could see either CJA or AP being your third pick after Carr and Coleman.

Is that Keenan Allen? If so, I would pick him up and he would be my third keeper. I might even add Lacy as well and keep Lacy, Allen and Carr. If everyone else is keeping their studs, you would have a huge advantage in budget and could probably get OBJ at or below where he is now while having huge values in the guys you kept.

CJA got snagged. I did get:

Bryant, Lockett, Keenan Allen and D. Henry though after missing the playoffs.

Even cheap, I'm not sure I'm interested in holding on to Tevin Coleman when I only have 3 keeper slots. So far the guy just can't stay on the field, and the longer it goes on the more I feel like he's never going to be more than second fiddle in Atlanta.

I'd still keep Carr, obviously. And, as I wrote earlier, I'd drop OBJ since there's no value there. Odds are that I'd keep Allen over Coleman, too. And I'd still consider AP. Looking at it again, I'd put Rivers back in the mix -- 2QB keeper league. Given the prices that you listed from the original auction, though, my gut is that AP -- if healthy -- would provide the biggest value; I'd definitely keep Carr; and the third spot would come down to KA vs. Rivers.

It's 1 QB, I put two because I think at the time I was working on my dynasty team. AP's value should be more reasonable plus the discount would be a nice deal. Carr/AP/Allen would form a nice core and only spend a small percentage of my budget. Big risk since the latter two have a health problem as of late.
