1 keeper Redraft

Postby Tyrober » Thu Jun 21, 2018 12:20 pm

12 team .5 PPR
I have the 1.03 in a 1 keeper redraft. This is the first draft so everyone is still on the table. Trying to switch gears and take off my dynasty cap. Should I put any emphasis on youth when looking at this since it’s just a 1 keeper league?

I’d rather have Brown in redraft but would much prefer Nuk or Odell in dynasty. Same goes to Bell in redraft but Zeke in dynasty. Would also consider Barkley at this spot if I am being honest.

#1 has made it clear that they are taking Gurley and #2 seems up in the air. Should I take Bell or Brown at 1.03 and be happy with them being a top guy and ride them out or go a little younger and have Zeke or Nuk for a couple years extra?

I'm in a two-keeper league that is ten years old now and youth really doesn't play that big a role. People's keepers evolve over the years. In it I picked up Gurley last season in redraft and this year will be keeping him. Things are ever shifting that way. Injuries lead teams to toss elite players back into the pond, too. That happened with Odell last season, for example. In a one-keeper league I can only imagine it matters even less.
QBs: Patrick Mahomes, Trey Lance, Tua Tagovailoa
RB: Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon, Saquon Barkley, JK Dobbins, James Conner, Travis Etienne, Tony Pollard, Brian Robinson.
WR: Ja'Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, Jaylen Waddle, Chris Godwin, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool, Chris Olave, Odell Beckham, Josh Palmer
TE: George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Taysom Hill, Trey McBride, Isaiah Likely
PK: Nick Folk
(IDPs, start two per week per position):
DL: Danielle Hunter, Myles Garrett, Alex Highsmith, Aidan Hutchinson, Chase Young,
LB: Roquan Smith, C.J. Mosley, Logan Wilson, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoa
DB: Derwin James, Jeremy Chinn, Xavier McKinney, Jalen Pitre

* Ten team league started in 2014.
** 40 player roster, 30 Keepers per season.
*** Red denotes 2022 draft pickups.

This is basically a redraft league and that's exactly how you need to treat it. Go for the best production in 2018.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

When it comes to redraft, I wouldn't put to much thought into keepers. Worst case you just take some late round value guy. The real value of keepers is getting those studs for super late round value, like David Johnson for a 13th going into the 2016 season. But again, trying to plan for that doesn't really work so just take the best players possible and worry about the keeper part later.
