Why Is Wakins considered better than Cooper?

Postby Dynasty DeLorean » Fri Mar 13, 2015 8:42 am

They have the same frame, the same speed. Watkins has a little better leaping ability but Cooper has much better agility and catch radius and from what I've heard runs better routes. So i'm a little confused why Cooper is not as high or higher than Sammy on people's boards.

Metrics aren't everything. Especially when they are pretty close athletically. At least Sammy has a 1,000 yard NFL receiving season under his belt while Cooper hasn't even gotten a NFL team to play on yet

Gronk, HHenry, Engram
1.09, 2.09, 3.09, 4.09, 5.09

Team 2
10 TM 1/2/3/1/1Flex 6pt all TDs .25 PPR RB, .5 PPR WR, 1 PPR TE

Julio, Nuk, Fuller, Cooks, ARob, Watkins, Cooper, SShepard, CDavis, DJ Chark
Kelce, Olsen, Andrews
1.09, 2.09, 3.09, 4.09, 5.09

Team 3
10 team, 0.5 PPR RBs WRs, 1 PPR TEs, Devy Superflex League

I think it's a fair enough question.

OP, correct me if I'm wrong but are you really asking 'why was Watkins a year ago considered a better prospect than Cooper now?'

I think they're the same. I love me some Cooper. Watkins may have a higher upside - Cooper is as polished as they come out of college.

yes basically why was watkins more highly touted. to the other guy, its not just metrics that's why I threw in route running as well.

you say they are the same but sammy has higher upside, so what makes you say that if athletically they are more or less the same?

Daniel Jeremiah on a recent podcadt has last year's top 3 (Beckham, Watkins, Evans ahead of White, Cooper and Parker.). The best of the rest were Benjamin, Cooks and John Brown. Think he also had Strong in the top 10.

I think Watkins is more explosive on game film despite the similarity of the athletic measurables.

I hate the fact that Cooper gets "downgraded" because he looks so effortless doing everything. He's one of the smoothest athletes I've ever seen, he ran his 4.42 and it didn't even look like he was trying.
