Brock Osweiler

Postby BigJoeWall72 » Thu Mar 05, 2015 1:15 pm

Now that Peyton is coming back, Osweiler is going to be the backup again and has to learn a new offense.

While I think this is probably Peyton's last year, Osweiler is entering the last year of his rookie deal. Denver would be a great situation for him, but there's no guarantee that he'll be back in 2016.

I haven't really seen him in action... Has he looked good at all?

Is anyone holding onto him?

I've got Manning and been also holding Osweiler in a 12x26 league for a couple years. I'll continue to hold Osweiler too. I don't necessarily think he'll have to learn a new offense as I think Kubiak will adapt to Manning most likely.

I like Osweiler's size, arm, draft pedigree, and the fact that he's been learning from Elway & Manning for years. No guarantee he gets a shot in Denver or anywhere, but I'll take that lottery ticket.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

In Superflex leagues I'd hold, as starting QB's are worth something even if they're bad. Outside of that, unless you also hold Peyton (and even then maybe not) I don't see the need unless your QB spot is dire.

Mallett got a shot and appears lined up for another shot. I see no reason to believe that Osweiler won't get at least a couple games before disappearing into the sunset.

I hung onto Osweiler for two years thinking just that, after Peyton's neck injury I figured he was only a play away from retiring. It didn't happen. I finally sold him recently in one league for Dwayne Allen, because it was a decent price and I had 3 other QBs. Otherwise I am still holding, as far as I know he is a free agent next year, so he might get a shot whether Peyton stays or leaves. I like him as much as any rookie QB but that's not a lot, and this year there are better bets like Foles and Bradford that can be had pretty cheap.

I own him in one league. I am so sick of that name on my team, because he has been clogging a roster spot for so long now...
Can't sell him. Nobody is even paying like a late 2nd for him.
Not even if I add a third on my side.

Hate it.

He's a hold for me unless I really need the roster spot and I can't stand to drop anyone else. He's not worth much yet in trade but I know if I drop him he'll be scooped up immediately. I've had him this long, I can wait one more year to see if I have anything.

The same owner had him for years, and just dropped him at the end of last season. I picked him up off waivers at the start of this year, so I don't have the long-term investment in him like a lot of others seem to.

My main league is superflex, so I'm holding him. Thankfully our practice squad rules are really relaxed, so he can just sit there collecting cobwebs with my devy players.

I don't understand that. As an owner you draft him to make a long term investment, and then as his window is starting to open you drop him and get absolutely nothing in return for a roster spot for 3 years.

good pick up!

WR - Sanders, Woods, Funchess, Jo Brown, Hogan, Ph. Cooper, Heyward-Bey, Wright, Marquess Wilson, Hunter, Goodwin, Fuller
TE - Gronkowski, Ebron, Chandler, Boyle

at this point, i think i would try and acquire him barring roster spots.

i would say if your in the 4th round of your rookie draft and we know people love their picks, see who has osweiler, and see if you can get him for that. its a buy low chance, and there is no guarantee and i hate to say it that peyton last all next year anyway, his noodle arm might just noodle out by mid year.

Chance are we'll get to see Osweiler in some real action this year too. Just read an article that pointed out only one other QB in NFL history has ever played all 16 game in their age 39 year or older season (Favre). If any QB can do it Peyton is the guy. But odds are Osweiler starts a game or two this year.

But as mentioned, he's a great end of bench guy, even in 1 QB leagues. Why not? Easy enough to drop next off season if nothing becomes of him or perhaps someone gets a boner for him and you strike a good trade.

I drafted him as a rookie in the 4th round and held him until a few weeks ago. When it became obvious Manning would be back, and I had nothing behind Rivers at QB, I traded Osweiler and 2.06 for Tannehill and 8.10. Much happier, but it will sting if Osweiler ever hits it big.
