So, Stephen Hill.

Postby Water Buffalo » Sun Sep 09, 2012 2:17 pm

Rookie luck or sign of things to come?

I didn't get to watch the game, but obviously the stat line was impressive for a guy considered extremely raw playing in his first NFL game. How did he actually look?

I liked his potential coming into this year a lot, but I certainly didn't expect a first game like that.

Coming from a Jet fan and New Yorker, I watched the game. Hill looked very good.

He looked pretty good, but it's hard to get excited about anyone who plays for the Jets...

I was pleased with Alshon too!

For sure, I understand what you're saying. Still, I don't think anyone expects him to be putting up WR1 numbers every game like he did today. If he puts up solid WR3 numbers this year, I think most people, myself included, would consider that a big win for a guy considered extremely raw and very young. Clearly the opportunity is there.

I was mainly curious about how he looked. Any drops? Showing good hands? How much was he on the field? etc....

Saw quite a bit of the game on NFL Network RedZone channel. He was on the field a lot. Hands looked good. Don't recall any drops. I would anticipate Hill putting up similar numbers to Braylon Edwards when he was with the Jets. That's my prediction.

I don't want to highjack the thread and change the subject, but since you did...

Not sure if you watched the game, but he wasn't that impressive. Yes, he caught a long TD pass, but other than that I didn't see anything special. In fact, I thought Earl Bennett looked better.

Lol...I hear ya. Don't get me wrong...he played well and should put up decent points from time to time.

No drops but he needs to learn to catch with his hands or the dropsies will come sooner or later.

Very solid game for a guy that most weren't/aren't expecting much of anything from this year. 6 targets, 5 catches. I watched the game and he looked really good, body caught a couple but nothing that I'd be overly concerned about. I definitely like his upside for next season, especially if Holmes goes bye-bye because Hill today looked dangerous with an ability to gain separation and (obviously) create plays.

I only saw one preseason game, but it struck me that he was a body catcher.

One of his TD catches was a body catch.
