Did Alex Smith do his best Hillis impression?

Postby Warren » Fri Mar 16, 2012 12:40 pm

What is it with these players? They go from mediocre to having one solid year and expect to break the bank. Alex has been paid handsomely thus far in his underwhelming career and then turns down a contract that would have continued to pay him more than what he is worth. I think it would be hilarious if the Niners were to sign Manning and leave Smith on the outside looking in. I doubt another team would even approach what the Niners were offering, although a few teams might offer him a shot at a starting job. Cleveland, Seattle and Arizona come to mind.

It's not Alex Smith who put the brakes on, its the niners, imo. They didn't jump into the Peyton mix out of nowhere.
