2012 "bounceback" players

Postby Krang » Thu Dec 29, 2011 12:25 pm

As is typically the case every year, there are guys - rookies and vets - that, coming into the year, are pretty hyped and expected to be solid performers. For one reason or another, they end up buried on the depth chart and/or are just not that productive. Of the guys that fit that mold this year, who are some that people would put back in that "hype" category with a chance to redeem themselves on the field in 2012?

Too early to tell. Need to see how coaching changes shake out and what happens in free agency. But, the top candidate IMO is the entire TBB offense. They are too talented to suck that bad under good coaching. Raheem Morris was horrible this year as evidenced by the fiasco of benching Blount for a fumble - as Chris Carter would say, "Come on man".

I agree with TStaff regarding TB...dreadful accross the board and are they all in a sophomore slump? I would look to Bradford to improve since they will probably have a new coach, preferrably with an Offensive background, and a top WR talent acquired thru the April Draft! Plus, they have a lot of money to spend this off season!

I'll throw one out - Austin Collie. I'm still hopeful or in denial or both.

Hillis bounce back?
He was never good. He had 1 good year where people couldnt tackle him for some reason. He's overhyped and I expect a rookie or Hardesty to overtake him on the depth chart

IT depends what you mean by good. He was never a back people projected to be a water carrying running back a la AP or Ray Rice. However, he's both an excellent pass catcher and goal line back, and because of that he will always have value, particularly in PPR leagues. I would feel great about him as my rb3
12 team 1 ppr 6 pt all tds

He should at least have Luck or Manning throwing him the ball this next year. So that is in his favor.

He probably won't be in Cleveland next year. I expect him to be useful but in a more limited way than a cow bell type. He'll be a useful goal line guy because he runs with power and can catch. But if whatever team he goes to tries to turn him into an MJD this year then he'll fold with some injury. But I suspect he'll bounceback and be a RB3 like the other person said and, depending on the matchup, perhaps better than that at times.

[quote="cha"]-Bradford

I was high on Bradford at the beginning of this year but 2011 has been such a disaster that complete regime change is possible on Monday. If that happens, I don't know what to think of Bradford next year. I would be very worried about him. Long term? He's probably worth a stash. But 2011 and potential regime change in the front office in 2012 could have a deeply adverse impact on him. We just don't know. But I don't look for a significant bounce back next year, unfortunately.

Hardesty isn't good enough to pass Hillis.

I'm hoping that the Seahawks use the offseason to find ways to get the ball to Zach Miller. Over the last couple of games, they have been utilizing the TE with a little more frequency.
