Jimmy Claussen: dynasty future??

Postby Shawn » Mon Dec 26, 2011 2:27 pm

Once seen as a quality QB prospect, Jimmy Claussen finds himself in Carolina holding a clipboard behind electric rookie QB Cam Newton. The question now is "Will Jimmy Claussen get a chance as a starting QB somewhere?" While some were never that high on the guy it still seems pretty early to write him off as a bust just yet. With as bad as some QB situations have gotten around the league (SEA, ARZ, CLE, WAS) don't you think its possible that Claussen could get a shot somewhere? Thoughts

in a 12 team league, I wouldn't dream of wasting a roster spot on him. He is awful. He's not even the back up on carolina, he's 3rd string. There aer a bunch of backups I'd rather have then him. Locker and Kaepernick, flynn, hoyer. I'd rather have Matt moore and skelton.

It would take an act of team desperation and a slew of injuries for him to get a second shot somewhere.

Clausen has the physical tools to succeed as a better than average NFL QB, it's a lack of maturity holding him back IMO. I have him in one of my leagues (12 teams/30 man rosters) just in case he matures and realizes his attitude is holding him back as well...

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Jimmy Clausen was the worst rookie QB I have EVER seen play. No pocket awareness. Under his direction, Carolina had one of the most inept offenses in NFL history. A huge majority of his drives ended in three-and-outs.

I watched all season long as Clausen could not get ANYTHING going. I've seen rookies play bad, but in many cases, they show glimpses or spurts of good play or development over the course of the season. Clausen looked lost, jittery in the face of the pass rush, and just plain over-matched.

IMO, he will never amount to much at the NFL level.

I think it's pretty safe to erase Jimmy Clausen from your brain.
