I hate kickers in fanatsy football. am i the only one?

i really think that kickers have no place in fantasy football. They only serve as x-factors... almost everyone waits until the last rounds to draft them. i think any future league im in should have NO KICKERS and if i can garner up enough votes i'd like to see no kickers in any privately run leagues im currently in going forward.

I tend to agree on kickers, I am in a couple leagues without team defenses, and I wouldn't mind them being without kickers too.

there's almost zero strategy or rhyme or reason in predicting their success... do they play indoor or outdoor? good offense or bad offense? high scoring teams or low scoring teams? who cares... i hate them.

More than that, there's nothing to interesting about researching or rooting for them. Nothing good about their highlights. Why not just roll a couple dice and add that to your score instead, it's basically as interesting and random as a kicker performance. the only reason I like them at all is people will over value them in drafts and take them earlier than they should ( which should be the last round)

I'm in one league that gives a bonus' for long field goals. under35 3 pts. 35-50 4pts and anything 50+ is worth 5 pts. so there is some strategy to having a guy like janakowsi who can nail 60 yarders like there nothing.

but yea all in all I couldn't care less, I tend to always be able to find 2 top 10 kickers every year and are able to todd them into big trades to put the trade over the top and then just find a new one, so personally I like them because im good at finding them for some reason

I agree, and I've been saying this about kickers for years now.

The only reason I even like them at all, is because some guys in my league are attached to their kickers for whatever stupid reason and end up dropping skill players instead of their kicker for bye weeks and such, allowing me better access to prospects.

But yeah, they are a total crapshoot, mostly luck, and I generally hate them.

Janikowski scored me 19 points today(5 pts for each 50+ yd FG).. thats reason enough to have a kicker lined up .. needless to say I picked him from waivers two years ago

yup i've made several trades to GB, MIN, NO etc lovers for decent skill players or picks.

Call me a traditionalist, but I kind of like having kickers. They are part of an NFL team's offense and directly score points in the NFL. If anything, they belong in our point scoring systems more than we deserve to get points for receptions or for yardage. But hey, maybe that's just me.

I think the point though, is that you're just as likely to be on the flip side of those games as you are the good side and it's generally just random dumb luck.

We should throw D/ST's into the mix as well. Is it just me or are there no consistent D's anymore besides a select few? Seems you could get 19 one week, then like -1 the next.. only 3 NFL teams so far scored under 20 pts this week

Yeah, I could live without them. I think I'd rather roster two prospects than carry a defense/st and a kicker. Interesting. Maybe I'll bring this up in the two leagues I commish.

The problem here is that everybody doesnt want to bother with the strategy behind choosing a kicker or DST on a weekly basis....but the fact is there is still lots of thought that go into it....just like there is strategy to who you start at your flex position on a weekly basis. If you cant handle being able to rotate players in and out and being successful doing it then maybe you shouldnt be playing fantasy sports because thats what the overwhelming majority of it is.......being able to pick between guys like Jordy Nelson, Victor Cruz, Antonio Brown, and Doucet on a weekly basis is what makes it challenging, and is one of the things that separate good managers from bad ones.

I dont mind having kickers or not.....but they arent as much of a crapshoot as people make them out to be....you still have to put some thought and consideration into it if you want to be successful.
