Russell Wilson - Seahawk? Or maybe not..
Russell Wilson - Seahawk? Or maybe not..
It is starting to sound like his contract negotiations could get ugly.
Reportedly, the Seahawks want Wilson to give them a hometown discount.
Wilson is unwilling to do so and wants to be paid what he deserves.
Now, obviously the franchise tag is an option that could get used next year; and even potentially the year after.
It seems foolish that the Seahawks would let Wilson go - but this could be headed toward a Cousins-like divorce.
What do you think?

If you were Wilson, what is it about the Seahawks approach to using an elite QB that would make you feel like offering a discount? His job is to hand-off on first and second down, avoid pressure and be ridiculously good on third down to keep the chains moving and then hand off on first down again. There are plenty of bigger markets, with more modern passing games who would love to have him.
Re: Russell Wilson - Seahawk? Or maybe not..
Not to mention they refuse to invest in an offensive line to protect him..
Re: Russell Wilson - Seahawk? Or maybe not..
Depends on the discount I suppose. If the Seahawks were the Patriots East and willing to promise they'd be at least Playoff contenders, if not SB contenders yearly, it would certainly be something he could consider like Brady. I mean you can be paid like Cousins or Ryan but potentially win nothing, or be paid mid-market prices (ie QB 10-14) and hopefully win something.
That does not mean I am advocating for Wilson to accept a hometown discount - just that depending on what the discount was, and if they had shown concrete steps to win, it is a potential consideration. In this case it seems like what they are asking is not reasonable from the perspective of Wilsons camp. He certainly should not take a discount just because it is his hometown if they don't plan to make logical use of that discount.

As long as we’re just wildly speculating:
Giants get Russell Wilson
Seahawks get Josh Rosen, 1.06, 1.17, 4.01
Cardinals get 1.21, 5.21

The Cowboys hopefully. They are making smart decisions (like acquiring Amari Cooper) and that needs to stop!slaughterrt wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 2:18 pmWhere does Gettleman get traded to?OhCruelestRanter wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 1:32 pm As long as we’re just wildly speculating:

Gettleman is going to tank some RB’s stock by taking him in the 3rd because “you gotta have two backs”, I can feel it.slaughterrt wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 2:18 pmWhere does Gettleman get traded to?OhCruelestRanter wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 1:32 pm As long as we’re just wildly speculating:

Interesting...
Florio is now reporting that "Per a league source, the Seahawks think that Wilson would like to play elsewhere, even if he hasn’t and wouldn’t ever say it."
I assume this isn't Mathieu, since he's already went public.
