Which AAF players (if any) will be NFL fantasy relevant?
Which AAF players (if any) will be NFL fantasy relevant?
Plant your flag now & make your guesses. Do you think any of this year’s AAF players will sniff a fantasy football lineup this fall or in the future?
I have a couple of leagues that have deep rosters and waivers runs right now. I just cheaply grabbed Charles Johnson & Rashad Ross who are in the MFL system. Many MFL players aren’t in MFL so would have to wait. I expect Johnson and Ross to get cut from my teams by the end of August. But ya never know!
Anyone else from the AAF that you’ll be squirreling away?

If he ends up making any impact, it would likely be more real life impact than fantasy...but I’m gonna go IDP here.
I like the Karter Schult signing. Under the radar DE from a very small school. Still young (25 I believe). Has an energized bunny motor. Maybe a bit undersized.
Also love that the Vikings are the team that signed him. He will play and learn by some of the better players/coaches in the business.
Might be all just hope on my part, but if the stars all align, I think he could develop into a solid rotational DE in Minny, with the potential to be the Griffen heir apparent.

Reece Horn just signed with the Dolphins.

Depending on what The Eagles do in the draft, it might’ve been a nice landing spot for Charles Johnson.
I won’t be surprised if I cut him by August. But I wouldn’t be surprised either if he sticks around there and becomes a thing in the NFL again.

Is he more solid than Albert Wilson?

I think so, but I'm not a big Wilson fan honestly. I mean there's a reason Horn was in the AAF, I guess, but Wilson didn't impress me with 391 yards either. I'd definitely pick him up.Hottoddies wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 7:39 pmIs he more solid than Albert Wilson?

Re: Which AAF players (if any) will be NFL fantasy relevant?
If you’re defining fantasy relevant as a season better than QB24/RB36/WR48/TE24, I’d bet on that number being zero, but I could see Charles Johnson, Reece Horn, or Brandon Oliver getting lucky.
If you’re defining it as ever having startup value in that same QB24/RB36/WR48/TE24 range, I’d say it’s considerably less likely.

I’ve got a few leagues with really deep benches and lots of starting slots. I would be happy with a late season Tim Patrick sort of player.
Re: Which AAF players (if any) will be NFL fantasy relevant?
Still under the radar bc he went on IR, but Ja'Quan Gardner from the San Diego Fleet will probably get looks when healthy. Defenses were game planning for him by the last few weeks.

Charles Johnson is a good call. I do think he'll be solid depth in deep leagues.
I will be stashing Luis Perez in my superflex leagues. He was off to a hot start with a poor set of WRs and then regressed, but before that he was in the Rams camp last off season and Carson Wentz has enough health problems in his past that you could see Perez get an audition period in the near future.
