Of course Licht is defending his pick. Jones was an early 2nd. Licht is on the hook for that.

Note this still isn't Arians talking, and note that OTAs with actual football being played haven't even started yet, so how exactly has Jones been able to impress the staff this spring?

Licht is the worst GM in football without question.

Really bad idea to trade for lower value starting RBs before the draft. Some of these guys' value is going to be destroyed when the team brings in a shiny new rookie RB.

Sure - but that is part of the risk.
If they make it through the draft, the price goes back up.

“We think a lot of Marlon Mack,” Ballard says. “We think he can play on all three downs. We think he can carry the load.”

They have been praising him since last year, and he's in a top end offense and very young.
1.05 for Mack?
I wouldn't trade Mack away for 1.5.

People buying low on D. Freeman should be pleased Atlanta spent two first round picks on O-linemen.

100%. Someone in my home league has basically been trying to give him away but I've been hesitant. Mostly due to the contract settings involved. I may have to take advantage.

I have tried, and tried, and tried to persaude myself he could be Atlanta's next lead after Free is done.

I just don't see it on the tape. Collegiate or pro. I'm not sure I've ever seen a sub-200lbs scatback with balance and agility as poor as his. Watch him whenever he cuts; note how labored he looks doing it, like he almost stumbles. He doesn't actually fall down, but he does slow down, and typically it results in pursuit catching him from behind. I could maybe forgive this in a conventional power-back, but a scatback that can't fluidly change direction at speed is a red flag for me.

This bodes well for a Freeman bounce back.

Josh Adams, with two big qualifiers.
1. An asking price that is next to zero
2. He gets traded or released to a new team

Add your grains of salt

I ain't sure Montgomery is more talented than Mike Davis, but Bears trading up to get Montgomery is important. Definitely gonna be a camp battle.

Peyton Barber shares survive Day 2 intact. Likely Bucs take an RB on Day 3, as they've already addressed three of their five primary position needs, and they have four picks left. if they wait till round 5 or later to take an RB, I like Barber's chances to start '19 as Tampa's leadback. I think all bets are off if they take an RB at #107, though. Update: Bucs go DE and K in the fourth and fifth. Barber will probably open '19 as Arian's starter.

Is it just me, or is Wayne Gallman a fantastic buy-low?! I don't ever see his name mentioned, yet he would seem to be the clear lead back if Saquon ever gets hurt. He's the quintessential "jack of all trades, master of none" - he's not sexy, but he's solid at everything.

Or they are sold on Brian Hill stepping into the Freeman role if he goes down this year or next year if they let Free walk.
