Players with an Injured reputation

Postby millworkguy » Sun Mar 24, 2019 5:40 am

I was Thinking about guys who have a reputation as always injured, but haven't been and could possibly be buy low targets.

I offered another owner k Allen last week, and rejected the offer saying Allen cant stay healthy, but he hasnt missed a game In 2 seasons, who do you think of as always injured?

Tyler Eifert.
Sam Bradford.
Alshon Jeffery.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

He is retired now but Ryan Mathews was that guy for me. I was quite high on him coming out but he was able to play 1 full season out of 7 - just always seemed to be nicked up (more than the usual player) or have a nagging injury.
Please speak to clarion contrarion before considering the use of vetos..

KA was the first one to come to mind haha I don't know why Eifert and Bradford we're mentioned. They aren't buy lows and are literally always injured. Other players that I feel will always be banged up or just aren't buy lows are Fournette, Cook, even Odell is starting to cause some concerns with missing a few games every year

I think you have to look at types of injuries and if it is reoccurring or not. Like KA had a few random ones that were just plain unlucky.

As to your point about buying low, I bought a few players low due to injury last season. Not sure if you can still buy low as they should be healthy coming into this year but...
Hunter Henry had a seemingly freak injury and it was also so long ago that he will be fully ready for next year.
Jimmy G also
Will Fuller is an interesting one, because while he has had seemingly random injuries, this is becoming a theme. I still bought him but there is a lot of risk with him being another Eifert

Originally, I thought this was more about bad rep than injuries and was going to say Tyreek and Hunt lol

While not cheap Dalvin Cook, Leonard Fournette, and Kerryon Johnson are all guys whose value is currently discounted to some extent because of concerns over their ability to stay healthy.

Diggs is also frequently hobbled and if he was not he'd be a top 5 asset instead of top 10

Diggs is a first round start up pick? Since when? The guy has been in the league 4 years and finally hit 1000 yards for the first time last year.

Jordan Reed. He is always hurt, but can still put up decent TE numbers if you don't want to pay for the position. He's super cheap right now, but don't expect him to be available a lot.

Sorry - meant top 5 wr - he's consistently ranked in the top 10 now. Elite player - needs 16 games

I still don't get why this is a narrative. If we exclude his rookie year where he was a healthy inactive for 3 games, he's only missed 6 games out of 48. That's not some abnormal amount of games missed for someone to have an injury reputation.

Yeah, if you get Jordan Reed you better have a strong backup to offset the injuries. But, he's probably not a strong play right now given that Washington has Case Keenum and Colt McCoy at QB.

But he played injured (and poorly because of the injury) in basically every season except this past one.

You just described a lot of players in the NFL.

Right. I thought that might be the case. That makes more sense.
