KR/PR

Postby esloan35 » Fri Mar 22, 2019 6:44 am

Looking to add a proposal for a league regarding kick return and punt return points. Thoughts on this add and has anyone found a point value system they like?

Thanks!

Making the points system fractional is one way. I've seen some where each return yard is worth 0.01 points! On the other hand if PR / KR yardage is worth the same as scrimmage yards, then primary returners would get a huge boost in value.

As an aside folks in my league complain that PR / KR fumbles by one of their starting WRs/RBs costs them -6 points, but return TDs don't get them any points. (Those points are awarded to the team DSTs). This is likely easily configurable in CBS but we've been too lazy.
"Marathon Square" - 16 team full PPR league with 24 player roster. Keep 16 per year indefinitely, draft 8. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team DST
QB: Jordan Love, Deshaun Watson
RB: Travis Etienne, Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Kendre Miller, Jaleel McLaughlin, Sean Tucker, Deuce Vaughn
WR: A.J. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, Tutu Atwell, Allen Lazard, Isaiah Hodgins, Justin Shorter
TE: T.J. Hockenson, Cole Kmet, Kylen Granson
K: Didn't make the playoffs in 2023  , and don't usually hold one in the offseason
Team DST: Cowboys, Lions

Picks:
2024: 1.06, 2.06, 4.06, 5.06, 6.06, 7.06, 8.06

Disclaimer: My one and only Championship in this league was way back in 2011. Therefore, take my replies with the appropriate grain of salt.

We are running IDP, I think probably a TD and fumble could be standard scoring with the question being what's a reasonable yardage number.

We have kick and pint returns in my main league. 10 yards = 1 point

It's stupid. Heavily rewards a guy who just happens to get the job. Makes Locket a WR1

If there were a league that allowed for a like a line of scrimmage of the 25 yard line for kickoff, where you only get yardage after that point, then it'd be better. right now a guy could make the NFL wrong decision of carrying the ball out every time, get tackled on the 20 costing his team 5 yards each kickoff, and get 8-12+ points for his fantasy team

Good feedback...Some of the points I saw were 1/20 and 1/25 with standard scoring for a TD and fumble.

Check the scoring in my sig. It equates to 1 point per 25 PR yards and 1 point per 50 KR yards. It’s much easier to accumulate KR yards than PR yards, so we thought it was important to reward them differently. We also felt that neither should be rewarded on the same level as rushing/receiving yards. We wanted to make it a nice little bonus, without making it overpowered. With this scoring model, it’s unlikely to have a significant effect on player rankings/valuations. The most extreme fluctuation in performance (to my knowledge, at least) was Tyreek Hill’s rookie year, when this scoring model made him the WR9 overall versus the WR18 in regular PPR settings.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬

This is a preference thing for sure.

Personally I don’t like anything for yards. It can probably be tweaked for balance but I like rosterina WR not a KR when it comes down to it. Not sayin anyone’s wrong for the opposite. If you’re truly trying to mimic NFL productivity with fantasy points, sure, a stud returner should be rewarded. I just personally think it’s too flaky. Great KRs come and go, partly because when they are known to be dangerous no one kicks to em. This doesn’t interest me.

I do however see the argument for TDs. I think any TD, period, should be rewarded.
main league, half PPR, all TDs 6, -3 for INT
12 team. 2019 champ, 2020 runner up, ‘21 3rd
