Jared Cook to New Orleans

Postby FantasyFreak » Thu Mar 21, 2019 7:21 pm

So apparently Cook is going to New Orleans. Can he repeat what he did as Carr's favourite target, or even better it?

Popular opinion is that volume will go down but efficiency will go up. I think people forget because the NO offense was efficient but they have very few weapons. Cook is probably their 2nd best pass catcher at this moment. He could be in for a big year

Smart move by the Saints. He is a legit buy in that offense.

Should be solid for the next couple of years

I am a rebuilder, sell Cook for an early second or wait? I tried getting a future first, no dice. TE premium super flex

I think he has a shot of Ben Watson 2015 with Brees but that that would likely be his ceiling. With tight ends it really is important for them to at least get a decent number of targets (80) to be fantasy viable, and that seems feasible with Brees since he is very good at distributing targets.

I can’t imagine anyone giving a first for Cook but I would definitely take an early 2nd in that type of format if I had zero intention of competing. The QB’s and TE’s will bump several WR’s and RB’s down to you.

I'd take Thomas and Kamara as their top two pass catchers, lol, but your point remains . . . Considering his historically high drop rates, I never thought I'd see the day we would attach Jared Cook and "2nd best pass catcher" in the same sentence, but here we are, lol.

No concerns about this being like the Coby Fleener failed experiment? He was looked at as potential top-5. Graham in Green Bay as potential top-5. I'm far less optimistic about that as a reality.

The lack of weapons and the upgrade at QB I think most definitely puts last season as the floor here with an increase in TDs very much possible. He is defintely the 2nd best pass catcher there if Kamara isnt counted.

Really curious to see the contract.
I found it odd the Raiders did not try to keep him.

Especially with nobody at TE now.
Well, nobody worthwhile.

Has he signed officially yet? Or is it possible he can still back out and go to NE?

I guess they feel, like many, that this is perhaps a great year to draft a TE.

According to Rotoworld, nothing is signed, so he could back out and to to NE. He's said he won't do that though.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.
