High quality backup or maybe a chance at starter once Mariota continues to disappoint.

Two players of identical mediocrity. Maybe Mariota still has a higher ceiling? Corey Davis owners, you'll be in my prayers.

I was just thinking Miami would be the perfect landing spot for a rookie QB.

Perfect in that they'll have no competition to start. However, the O-line is atrocious and the top WR on the team is either Kenny Stills or Albert Wilson. I'd be very wary.

I actually like Davis more with Tannehill...

Tannehill signed a 1 year contract with the Titans with $7M guaranteed and worth up to $12M with incentives--that looks like backup QB money.

They should battle for the starting job. Ideally, one would be motivated and come out on top successful. I do not have high hopes for either

Really really odd.

If Tannehill is OK with being a backup, whatever. I don't think he could beat out Mariota.
He was traded. He doesn't really have a choice. He can either be OK with it, or he can be unemployed.

Well, I assume he had to agree to restructure his contract.

Great job for Miami getting a 4th. Dare I say they are starting this rebuild off right?

I can also see the appeal for Tennesee, but I'm surprised they couldn't get him cheaper. They just had a de facto playoff game where they started Blaine Gabbert, so it's not a surprise they invested in their backup QB.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

I agree, real smart move by the Dolphins. They cleared 34 million off their books over the next two seasons plus the draft pick(s).

As a Titans fan I don't hate the trade. Tannehill and Mariota are very similar players just Mariota is a lot faster. Both injury prone and inconsistent but I have always had hopes for a healthy Tannehill. He was very consistently average when he was healthy.

I don't like that they gave up a 4th but it is what it is. Better than Gabbert or Bortles as the backup..

Makes me think Mariota's nerve issues are lingering and Tanny is plan B.

Getting a quality backup QB for a 4th round pick is an easy win for the Titans. Titans offense is an obvious bounce back candidate this year. Hope Mariota thrives.
