I don't have any strong opinions on rookie TEs. I usually use the team landing spot and overall draft position to make my rankings of that position. I'm definitely interested in other rankings and reasoning though.

There are 3 outstanding TE's and 2 other really good ones. All 3 of these could easily go round 1 in the NFL draft.

I have do it all Hockenson as the best because he can block very well and run great routes. 3 down starter week 1.

Fant is a beast as a big pass catching TE.

Smith is very good combo type TE just behind IMO.

I would say Hockenson / Fant depending on landing spot. Irv Smith is right behind them, but again, it'll depend on landing spot. I do think Caleb Wilson and Jace Sternberger could be productive in the right environment too, but not sure they'll reach TE1 ceiling.

From a fantasy only standpoint, I see Fant as the clear #1. Hockenson will be a better football player though

I feel the same about these two. They NEED to go to the right offensive minds, otherwise they will likely never be given playing time because of their deficiencies outside of the catching the ball.

In real life I think Hockenson is the #1. From a fantasy perspective I would say
Fant
Hockenson
(slightly larger gap)
Irv Smith
12-Man, 0.5 ppr, ret yards, 30 man roster, 1-2 QB, 3-5 RB, 4-6 WR, 1-3 TE
QB- Lamar, Foles, Bridgewater, Grier
RB- Laird, Williams, Scarbrough, Ajayi, Hilliard
WR- Thomas, Golladay, Kupp, Kirk, Landry, Samuel, Gordon, A. Tate, Snead
TE- Andrews, Hockenson, Fant, Njoku, Fells
2020: 1.01,1.06,1.07,1.08,1.09,2.02,2.03,2.05,2.07,3.07
2021: 2,3,5

I see Hockenson closer to a Gronk type in the right system personally.

As someone that took Gesicki way too early but grabbed Ian Thomas in the 4th ... I learned my lesson and will not draft a stud TE again. Much easier to acquire via trade.

Possibly butnit depends on the league. I'm in a TE premium and decent ones are hard to acquire unless you are willing to pay up (I.e 2 firsts+ njoku)
14 team 1QB, PPR, TE premium:
QB: Watson, Mayfield
RB: Guice, Mixon, G. Edwards, D. Foreman, Darrell Williams, Walton, McKissic, Clement, Mike Boone
WR: Godwin, Callaway, Gallup, Goodwin, Ryan Grant, Zay Jones, ESB, James Washington, Javon Wims, Seth Roberts, Trent Sherfield, R. Matthews
TE: Ian Thomas, Dalton Schultz, Virgil Green, Vernon Davis
