I have never done one, but I think an auction draft would be the most equitable method.

Auction is by far the most fun IF you can get everyone in a room together and especially if it's done manually (with people calling out their bids)

Snake will seem low-stakes and boring by comparison once you've done one.

Auction and it's not close for me. Everyone has the same chance to get every player. No excuses. And after most of the money is spent, it turns into a draft anyway.

I think that it depends on some factors. Is everyone local? Is everyone a dynasty veteran, newbies, or a mix? Same with auction: veterans, newbies, a mix?

How important is trading pre-startup to owners? Will everyone be available at the same time for the start-up, or is a long-running draft?

Just some initial questions that come to mind...

auction is clearly the most fair and equitable, everyone has the same chance at each player. I have never done a live auction as was suggested earlier though think it would be great fun. Long running though I still prefer an auction to a draft
