NE Patriots owner Robert Kraft charged with soliciting prostitution

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, one of the most powerful men in American football, was charged today on two counts of soliciting prostitution in connection to a recent law enforcement bust on massage parlors in Florida that, according to law enforcement, were used for prostitution and human trafficking. The news comes a few weeks after the Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl and days after Kraft appeared at the NBA All-Star game.

In a press conference Friday morning, Jupiter Police chief Daniel Kerr said Kraft was charged with two counts of soliciting prostitution, and that a warrant for his arrest is with the state’s attorney’s office. Kerr said there is video evidence of Kraft involved in sex acts in a massage parlor on two occasions. Twenty-five people total were charged with soliciting prostitution at the Orchids of Asia Spa in Jupiter.

The only fantasy implications I can think of is it might convince Brady or Gronkowski to retire sooner rather than later if this in any way pushes Kraft out as Patriots Owner (which I doubt but the Panthers ownership changed due to harassment allegations ... ).

In all seriousness, as I think about this more:
- Don't want to debate whether these offenses (assuming true), are worse than Richardson's.
- Let's see how swiftly and harshly Roger Goodell reacts.
- If the reaction is neither swift nor harsh, we will have another confirmation of what we pretty much knew: Goodell's responses are arbitrary at best. On the other end of the spectrum, some might say he's a clown.

I didn't see the part about the human trafficking connection, so let me be clear that is absolutely disgusting, and my previous comment in now way was meant to make light of it.

That being said, Kraft may have had no idea that there was a connection, and as many massage parlors as there are that exist where I live, I think it would be a stretch to say that your average Joe Blow (no pun intended) who goes into one of these joints looking for an occasional happy ending is making that connection either.

It is a misdemeanor charge. If he was involved in trafficking he would not be charged with solicitation.

I will be surprised if he doesn't beat these charges. He has unlimited resources to fight a misdemeanor charge. Jupiter, FL is a pretty small city of 65K. Not sure they want to tie up their resources when this dies down over a misdemeanor charge. He can spend Millions to fight this and force them to spend at those levels while forcing massive time costs of half the police force in depositions exposing all facets of their investigation.
