Is it over for Alex Collins?

Postby mild » Wed Feb 20, 2019 3:12 pm

He just hit the waiver wire in my 10 team league... should I be rostering him over players like Ekeler, McGuire, Samuels...?

I know he fell significantly out of favour in BAL but I can't tell if it was a lack of talent or attitude based.

I suspect he is done in Baltimore--and i can't honestly think of a landing spot where he would do as much fantasy wise as he did in Baltimore. I have never felt the need to have him on my roster on any of my teams. I would much rather have Samuels and probably Ekeler over Collins. If that is Elijah McGuire-- I favor Collins just a little bit more than McGuire

If he is free than roster him but I have no faith he will ever do anything again and im one of the poor scrubs who bought him last offseason and im still holding him.

It's over. He's just another RB in the used up Baltimore saga. I warned it would happen last off season. I didn't think it would be to a rookie who can only run straight. I didn't think said rookie would suffer the same fate so soon after Collins, but I don't think he's the starter week 1. If he is, it won't be for long

I wouldn't pick him up in a 10 team league. He looks more like a depth player at the NFL level.

Alex Collins will have to fight off Gus Edwards, Kenneth Dixon, and whoever they bring in with free agency or the draft to see any meaningful work. It sounds like the Ravens are going to totally revamp their offense around Lamar Jackson this year. So whoever fits in with that new game plan will probably be the man. Who knows, but it looks like an uphill battle for Collins.

Thanks fellas, that's kinda what I suspected. It will be interesting to see how the Ravens revamp things for the *true* start of the Lamar Jackson era.

Probably not a hold in 10 team league if you have a decent roster but I’d hold in larger leagues. He’s an RFA and from all accounts he won’t be tendered, so he’ll be switching teams. I could see him landing on the Raiders and having a chance at reclaiming some value. I’d at least hold until mid/end March to see where he lands. You’d hate to dump him then see him sign in New Orleans, right?

Collins is better than many that are part of the site group think believe. Watch him play and it makes sense. The way Baltimore used him is the real mystery. I expect him to sign elsewhere and likely be part of a committee.

While I think he has a place as a back up depth player it is probably worth noting that Seattle cut him which is why he landed on the Ravens in the first place. My guess is a team will have to pick him up given he was placed on IR in December and is a RFA. The odds of him landing back in Baltimore seem remote given the Draft and FA's available. Not sure he is much of a special teams type player so his career may be pretty short.

Time will tell. He has a pretty bad fumble history. Think he has 9 on just over 400 total touches.

Sadly for Collins and the RB position in general, this is it.

And looking back through the pro annals from even before RB became devalued in the real NFL, one or two season wonders from now no-name RBs have been commonplace.

I don't fault those of you that gambled on Collins being legit before last season -- it was just as plausible he was becoming the next Alf Morris as not, considering his 2017 tape was legitimately good. It was a coin-flip worth taking at the right price.
