QB Carousel 2019

Postby Fantasyfanatic11 » Wed Feb 20, 2019 12:04 pm

I remember we did this last year so figured it'd be cool to do it again.

Where will these QB's be come the start of the 2019 season? (Simply copy and paste the list and add the team beside the player)

Ryan Tannehill - Arizona (Gives Murray time to learn like Baker/Mahomes)
Teddy Bridgewater - Miami (Immediate chance to be starter)
Josh Rosen - Washington (via Trade, immediate starter)
Eli Manning - NY Giants (1 more year as starter, to let Haskins learn)
Case Keenum - Jacksonville (Insurance if Foles doesn't work out, they're in win now mode)
Nick Foles - Jacksonville (Should be the starter from Day 1)
Blake Bortles - Tennessee (If Mariota falters again they may turn to Bortles)
Tyrod Taylor - Baltimore (Back to the team that drafted him, similar skillset to Lamar)
Ryan Fitzpatrick - Miami (Insurance if Teddy doesnt work out)
Kyler Murray - Arizona (1st overall pick can sit a year behind Tannehill)
Dwayne Haskins - NY Giants (Can sit behind Eli for a year)
Drew Lock - Denver (Will sit behind Flacco, future starter)
Daniel Jones - Philadelphia (Need a Foles replacement)
16 team PPR
QB: Herbert Purdy Garoppolo Winston
RB: Chubb Bijan Kamara White Singletary Gainwell CEH Penny
WR: Cooper Moore Dotson Beckham Mooney Mingo Renfrow
TE: LaPorta Kittle Waller

Ryan Tannehill - JAX - Tannehill stays in FL, and he's done well in spurts when he has time to throw. JAX's offensive line should be better in 2019 if they can stay healthy.
Teddy Bridgewater - TEN - Marcus Mariota is likely not the answer in TEN, and he has yet to stay healthy for an entire season. Bridgewater is a good backup/prospect for the future.
Josh Rosen - ARI - I think all the Kyler Murray talk is smoke. I don't see why ARI would immediately trade their 1st round QB despite the coaching change.
Eli Manning - NYG - Not much to be done. They'll ride out his last year.
Case Keenum - CAR - makes sense to sign him to a one-year deal as insurance if Cam Newton's shoulder isn't ready for Week 1
Nick Foles - MIA - Both Brian Flores and Chad O'Shea saw Foles pick apart NE's defense firsthand in SBLII. They could give him a front-loaded deal and see what happens.
Blake Bortles - PIT - could be a good strong-armed backup for Ben Roethlisberger, but for fantasy, don't know, don't care.
Tyrod Taylor - BAL - ideal backup if Lamar Jackson misses time, and Taylor likely still has some ties in BAL from his early career
Ryan Fitzpatrick - LAR - they have a decision to make with Jared Goff next year. Why not sign Fitzpatrick to a small two-year deal to have a decent backup and potential bridge if they go in a different direction at QB after 2019?
Kyler Murray - NYG - Pat Shurmur liked Teddy Bridgewater a lot, and Murray is similar in many ways. Alternatively, a dark horse candidate could be NO. Sean Payton also liked Bridgewater, enough so to trade for him as insurance in case Drew Brees declined this past year. They can make another Super Bowl run in 2019, but the window is closing for Brees, and Murray could be a good successor.
Dwayne Haskins - CIN - Andy Dalton is a good vet to sit behind and learn the system for a year, and new HC Zac Taylor can groom Haskins for his offense.
Drew Lock - DEN - there's been a lot of rumors about how much John Elway likes Lock, and I could see DEN grabbing him at 10.
Daniel Jones - WAS - seems like the kind of mediocre talent WAS targets, and Alex Smith's NFL career is likely done
Kittles Pox | Championships: 2015, 2017

I like the predictions only thing id say is that you have too many guys who you say will sit for a year. That doesn't happen in todays NFL anymore. Especially in the Giants case if NY drafts a Qb in the first and Eli starts out playing as badly as he has been playing there is no chance Eli keeps his job all season.

Good list.

Forgot to add Green Bay as a destination for one of those veteran back-ups. Fitzpatrick? Though his propensity to turn the ball over is entirely polar to Rodgers, he would keep the offense moving and would come far cheaper than many of the other veterans who still think themselves starter-worthy.

I like these predictions, especially the bold move in ARZ there. Only thing I'd change is Bortles and Fitz - I see Tennessee giving Fitz another chance after seeing what he did as Jameis' fill-in.

Ryan Tannehill - Washington (Gives them a bridge back to/competition for Smith)
Teddy Bridgewater - Miami (He wants to start. They need a starter and he’s probably the best option available. Might actually have some success with Gase.)
Josh Rosen - Arizona (I don’t see how Keim can restart at QB, or even admit failure so quickly. He also needs immediate returns on his first pick. He’s got to be on a short leash and I don’t think Kingsbury has enough heft to demand a new starter.
Eli Manning - NY Giants (To the disappointment of many, I’m not sure they’ll move to force out Manning this year either. He wasn’t the problem in 2018.)
Case Keenum - NY Giants (Connection to Shurmur. Not an immediate threat to start anymore)
Nick Foles - Jacksonville (Agree with op)
Blake Bortles - Oakland (Gruden liked him coming out and seems to like to pull in a lot of failed prospects to stroke his ego)
Tyrod Taylor - Baltimore (Agree with op)
Ryan Fitzpatrick - Chicago (I’m not sure how they can have 100% faith in Trubisky at this point. Chase Daniel is fine, but Fitz would give them a viable starter in a pinch)
Kyler Murray - Miami (Teddy there in case he chooses Baseball)
Dwayne Haskins - Tampa Bay (I think they’re planning for life after Jameis and they’ll make that clear here. He’ll get a year to prove them wrong.)
Drew Lock - Jacksonville (Let him learn under Foles. Foles is too erratic to be relied on.)
Daniel Jones - Patriots (Raw enough to not offend Brady. Smart enough to pick up the system.)
All I Der Is Win - 16 Team IDP League (Pass TD 6pts)

QB - Stafford, Stroud, Tune
RB - Swift, Hall, Penny, Bigsby, Ford
WR - Pittman, Olave, Di. Johnson, G. Wilson, J. Williams, Metchie, Robinson, M. Wilson
TE - Okonkwo, Schoonmaker
LB - Brooks, R. Smith, Phillips
DL - Crosby, Allen, Simmons
DB - D. James, Baker, Delpit
K - Just a stupid kicker

I feel like Tannehill and Foles are effectively the same player...however, one has seen some of the most euphoric highs and lowest of lows...while the other has been the same level for his entire career.

More buzz about Foles to the Jags and it has seemed like a good fit for a while. "If" it happens where do we see Foles value in a superflex/2 QB dynasty? Jags do not have a superstar WR but a plethora of very good ones just waiting for a QB that can throw the ball.

I would see him as a top 20 QB with the chance to approach the teens if it all clicks. As a bye week starter / QB3/4 you could do a lot worse in SF in my opinion. Overall pick value could serve to go even a touch higher if the contract is longer than 2 years.

The quickest way to get an NFL team back on track is to install league-average QB play. I think Foles can provide that. They have a good O-line and a good 2-down hammer in Fournette. I think the whole Jax team will look to rebound now that they're not getting consistently shot in the foot on every possession by Bortles... that whole team cratered and gave up.

One consistent thing you heard coming out of PHI last season when they made the shift was "veteran leadership". Seems like Foles is a really likeable leader, the Eagles went to war with that dude and won. It's a low-key great move by JAX to install some professionalism imo, something a rookie QB wouldn't necessarily have provided (especially given the amount of large personalities on this team).

Foles played decently with Agholor and Alshon in Philly...will be following what they do draft day because you'd feel that one JAX WR will be a decent fantasy option in 2019: Lee, Chark or Westbrook.

Agree with this. Don't forget Keelan Cole too though. And good luck trying to figure out which one will be the fantasy relevant one

I think Cole is most likely to be JAG. If I was gambling I'd take Dede, then Lee. Chark didn't do anything that impressed me and is a burner... perhaps he has a big 2nd year, but I'd sooner gamble on the others first.

A report just cames out that suggests the Cards can only get a 3rd for Rosen. If this is the case, just about any team could be in play. At worst you have a developmental backup QB on a cheap salary. At best, an eventual starter or successor.
