If I was a Broncos fan I'd be much happier about this trade if they did draft a rookie QB to sit behind Flacco for a year. His contract has outs after 2019 and 2020:

If it moves to 2020, the Broncos would be hit with $8 million in dead cap still, but have a cap savings of $20.25 million. They would be able to release Flacco in 2021 with no dead money while saving all $24.25 million, making that the most realistic outcome

It's going to be hilariously tragic watching him look salty on the bench as an entirely different rookie takes his job again.

I wouldnt be surprised if they are going to emulate the Ravens did with Flacco in 2017-18 and go run-heavy. Maybe they see Flacco as a better game-manager than Keenum - at the very least interesting to see if there will be a battle for the starter position or if Flacco gets it outright (and/or Keenum moved on from).

So basically I see this as good for Lindsay / Freeman. I do not see this as a move to open up the passing offence - just to better run the offence - since Keenum did not win them games. I see this as neutral as best for Sutton, because Flacco has never had a history of real success with WRs who were not already veterans (ie developed). Unless you count Torrey Smith. If Torrey Smith best year is what you are hoping for from Courtand Sutton though ....

If the Broncos move on from Sanders - there will be no WRs in Denver to help develop Sutton (except maybe Andre Holmes). Flacco is not really the mentoring type it seems. Keenum would be a better mentor imo (since he knows all about fighting to survive).

Ewww. I lived through this with the Vikings jumping from qb to qb for years. It’s a horrible way to live. Nothing hampers a teams future more than missing on qb picks.

Broncos Super Bowl odds actually went from 100-1 to 125-1 with this "upgrade".

They are tanking for a QB. The big bonus Flacco brings them over Keenum is that now they get crappy qb play AND they get to take on his nice expensive contract to make sure they don't have any money to spend on FAs that could ruin their tank job.
12 Team FFPC TE Premium
QB: Herbert, Brady
RB: Barkley, Mixon, Jav Williams, Pierce, Drake
WR: Jefferson, AJ Brown, Metcalf, Hopkins, Peoples-Jones
TE: Kittle, Goedert

To play devil's advocate, who is available that might have been better:

Eli???
Bortles???
Bridgewater?
FitzMagic??
A rookie?
BDN?

Not a lot of good options. Foles is probably better, imho. The others? Not so much.

I'd stick with Keenum and draft a rookie with the first rounder. Focus on the o-line in free agency and other draft picks. Sign Golden Tate.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Pretty sure there is a bigger plan here. Flacco knows the offense and can start right away he has a relationship with the coaching staff. Have to think maybe they like a QB they can get in the 2nd through 4th round and that player can sit and learn from Flacco. If that said rookie player does not work out you can still grab a QB in next year's draft class. Denver can then use the #10 pick on another player they value. If Denver wants Haskins they will have to move up to get him to maybe #2 which will take a lot of assets. I don't see Elway drafting a "5-9' QB the runs a spread concept. The Broncos have the 41st (2nd) and 72nd(3rd) picks respectively. I see one of these picks being a QB that could either develop into the starter or become a quality backup for the future starter.

This move tells me they don't like Case Keenum for one reason or another and this seems a bit odd to me after paying him some pretty decent money and yet only give him one season? It also tells me that they don't like the QB class or think it would be too expensive to get their QB they want in this class (Haskins) so they might look to next year and still draft a QB but maybe not their franchise QB. Why use an asset to get Flacco if they were thinking of moving up to get Haskins and Murray now also has a chance to be taken ahead of the Broncos which again I just can't see Elway taking Murray.

Tate? They have Hamilton for slot duty. Sutton is the x. They need a z. Or is Patrick the answer there?
