If a video of me doing exactly what Hunt did, were to go public on any social media, and, a member of my school board, or any administrator where to become aware of it. You can rest assured, there would be ramifications and I'd likely lose my job. And, further, as a consequence, I'd be less likely to get another job as it would follow my with my personal record. So, I'd disagree with the notion that the public isn't held to similar standards. The public and civilians in our society, are held to that and in some cases it is FAR more harsh. So, in that sense, Booger is incorrect.
Right, which is why it's annoying when people who don't know what they're talking about say something that doesn't make sense and others just eat it up. I think you're kind of off base on why the NFL is or is not trying to discipline players though for stuff like this. It's 100% about the money. It's not about anything else.
There are of course areas in which JFever mentioned, that would be far more strict, but I think Booger is talking about the society as a whole. The NFL certainly isn't in the same ball park as educators, either. Let's not forget, the only reason the video went public is because he's an NFL player, known in the media. No charges we laid. If an educator did this, and no charges were laid, in the same fashion, TMZ would not have released the video. Nobody would care.

I mean its a gladiator like spectacle sport. I agree with what Fever is saying if you get into specific areas, there are some who will be treated more harshly, but as an overall culture, I think what he's trying to say is, then NFL isn't going to take it upon themselves to be the moral high ground of the culture, and people shouldn't expect them to.

In no way am I saying I agree with the Cleveland Browns. I personally, do not roster players such as Hunt/Hill etc. It would be nice if the NFL took a stand on these things, but again, it shouldn't be expected.

But do you have the potential to generate millions upon millions of dollars in revenue for your company?

I do not think it is fair to compare most (if not all) of our careers/occupations to that of an NFL player.

Teams are in it to win, winning generates more revenue. If Hunt was a mediocre player he would be done, but he is a stud that can help the Browns win games. Do you think most Browns fans are outraged by this? Probably not and that is who the move is geared to.

I am not saying that I condone Hunt's actions or even think this is the right thing - but this is business and we live in a society where money means nearly everything.

Totally agree with phaded. There is a difference between the NFL and school, like it or not.

Is Kareem Hunt an RFA

Postby Mjvb5 » Wed Feb 27, 2019 12:52 pm

Was having a spaced out thought and realized that hunt would hit UFA a year early due to only signing a one year deal and being under rookie contract for one. I know a lot of people including myself state he’s gone after this year. But wouldn’t this mean he hits FA after three years and therefore Is an Rfa not a ufa?

He's an RFA after 1 more season is what I understand. So if this season he doesn't play enough games for it to count as a season played, he will remain under contract and then be an RFA the year after

Please correct me if I'm wrong as this is just my basic understanding of the situation.

Okay that’s how I interpreted it when I thought about it more. I just know prior to that me and a lot of others saidhunt should be gone after a year but this might throw a wrench in that.

Signed a 1 year 1.1 M contract with the Browns for 2019 and will be a RFA next season. The Browns were pretty smart on this one IMO if he pans out.

I'm pretty sure if he's suspended for over 10 games, he wont become a RFA next offseason.

I think they have to play 6 games, similar to Lev Bells situation last year when they were saying after week 10 he wouldn't have any reason to come back to play the final couple games. I vaguely remember the same situation with Josh Gordon a few years ago in Cleveland where he was suspended 10 games and then got suspended again for the final game of the season (only played 5 games) which caused him to lose that season as an accrued season and didn't allow him to become a FA? I may be wrong on that, hard to remember the entire Josh Gordon Saga.

Yep. VJax did that in San Diego where be didn't report for the first 10 weeks, then showed up, played the rest of the season and that counted as a full year. When Josh Gordon had his problem but came back in time for the year to count as a full year but then cleveland suspended him the final week so it wouldn't count as a full year, people said that was evil of the team. Remember the same thing about Bell- week 10 was the drop dead report date.

With his looming suspension and having Chubb in the backfield as well, what do you think his value is at?

Looking to potentially trade for him, but I have no clue what to gauge his value at.

Hopefully one of these threads helps. :)
Thanks. I did try looking back, but apparently I didn't look back far enough. Appreciate it.

There are also several Hunt trade threads in the team advice forum. Good luck.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...
