Which Buy Low do you avoid?

Postby zoster80 » Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:21 am

This is kind of an against the grain type question....Who is someone that everyone is pinpointing as a great buy low, that you think is probably not a good target?

Some candidates are...
Fournette
Davis
Landry
D Freeman
Will Fuller
R Freeman
J Howard
Ajayi
L Miller
R jones

Don't know if this counts but from what I've seen most owners aren't selling low on Fuller and Davis, seen a lot of mid-high first for fuller and more than a first in value for davis

Out of that list, I'm totally avoiding (unless they are an add-on at extremely good value): RoJo, Devontae Freeman, Howard, Ajayi, and Miller.

Fournette, Davis, Royce Freeman, Landry, and Fuller all have some value to me and I like the upside of especially the first three. I think Davis breaks out this year finally and Royce Freeman takes the backfield away from Lindsay. Fournette may get moved and end up in a golden situation with a fire lit under him to prove himself.

Depends how low the 'buy low' value is. I wouldn't buy Rojo for a 3rd, but I just got him in a deal that I would have accepted even if he wasn't a part of the deal. Right now our rosters are inflated for offseason trades/rookie drafts. I have increased roster space to hold him until the 2019 season starts. If he gets buried in Tampa or cut, I can easily cut him from my roster with no tears shed.

I don't think owners are selling Fournette/Davis/Fuller/both Freemans at a discount right now. So there isn't really a buy low opportunity. I just wouldn't be pursuing them at their current values.

I wouldn't be buying low on a player like Funchess thinking a new team can make him a WR1/2. I think he's already seen his ceiling.

I'd say Corey Davis, Will Fuller, Jay Ajayi, and Lamar Miller. Their values are low but still not low enough for me to initiate a trade to acquire them.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Right I suppose a buy low is only a buy low if you feel you're buying the player at a price less than you feel he is worth.

So I assume what you're asking is which popular potential buy lows are you avoiding - either (a) because their cost is still to high to you or (b) just have no interest in regardless.

Who do I value below their current consensus? Easily Fuller, R Freeman and R Jones.

Lamar Miller is an easy one. He's always going to be a decent RB2 with a few big RB1 games. There's not any untapped upside to buy low on.

Howard is an easy one too, because he's basically been turned into Jeremy Hill.

Howard and Ajayi, on that list. I feel like Chicago is ready to move on from Howard, and I think Philly will bring someone in/run a RBC/ Ajayi's knee will assplode anyways.

Ronny Jones, I was low on pre draft, but he's going for nothing in some leagues, by definition if you can get him for nothing and have space thats a nice buy low.

The rest of that list Im kind of in the consensus of valuations. I am a Fuller and Landry fan though. Fuller = plug and play whenhes healthy, just gotta roll his lower availability into his value. Landry, I'm warming up to actually. Nice proven talent on an offense thats on the rise.

AJG is devalued (compared to his expected production) in many leagues due to age. Personally I’m looking to grab him where I can.

Fournette- Reasonable buy low. He’d be the 1.01 for me in this class, but I think you can get him for less than 1.01. A trade could send his value surging. I saw Philly for Foles floated.
Davis- Reasonable buy low. Struggles were attributed to Mariota. There are a lot of Truthers out there with no interest in selling.
Landry- Reasonable buy low.
D Freeman- injuries here scare me, it really depends on how low. Wouldn’t give any first for him
Will Fuller- I don’t think his value has changed, so I don’t see him as a buy low.
R Freeman- I like him as a buy low, considering he could probably be had for a 3rd in a weak class. Lindsay’s wrist injury might be more serious than anticipated.
J Howard- I think he might be Alf Morris. Idk that anybody is selling for where I’d want to buy.
Ajayi & L Miller- I wouldn’t buy now with Le’Veon, Hunt, Coleman, and the whole draft class still to find spots.
R jones- never liked him, new regime won’t have any ties to him.
