Bortles, Tyrod, Flaco and other what if QBs

Postby saw061600 » Mon Jan 21, 2019 6:44 am

Could probably include others on the list like Foles and Tanny. Do any of these QBs land in a starting role next year or are they cooked? Openings that could exist due to injury or lack of confidence in current QB include NYG, WAS, JAC, CAR (if Cam out), MIA, and DEN. (feel free to add more). With 6+ potential openings, it seems likely one or more of the vet QBs ends up the starter somewhere, right?

How do you rank the available vet QBs based on the likelihood of landing a starting gig next year?

A couple of those should be starting somewhere. It's anyone's guess which ones. You could add Bridgewater to the list also. I think Foles, Bridgewater, and Flacco would be the most likely to get a shot of some sort.

If Bortles starts anywhere next year I’ll question that teams coach/gm big time, unless it’s a stop gap while a rookie develops behind him. I wouldn’t bother rostering him in a deep 2QB league I don’t think.

Tannehill and Flacco should find starting gigs somewhere, but as far as long term dynasty value, dunno.

I could see Taylor getting another shot but i wot be investing anything in it.

Foles I think is the most interesting option of this bunch I guess. Best chance to be a starter on a good team next year I would wager, and good team has a strong correlation with fantasy QB value

Foles is going to be a starting QB next year, almost guaranteed. The others, could go either way. Bortles though, highly unlikely. He's going to be a back up for the rest of his career, I would think.

Flacco gets disrespected so much the OP doesnt even worry about spelling his name correctly. ;)

He should be able to find a Case Keenum type situation going forward - if the cards line right for him.

Flacco was the biggest QB FA name up until Foles did his thing... I wouldn't want to mess with any of these guys for fantasy purposes, but I think the NYG landing spot could be valuable. They would have to finally dump Eli though.

I think IF Bortles and Tyrod get another starting gig, it won't last long. Definitely a lot of moving QB this off-season, but not many that are exciting.

I remember, the year they won the the superbowl, I had a bet that preseason that he would be a top 20 fantasy qb. I lost the bet, but did act like an a-hole when he went out and won the superbowl, lol.

Giants might grab someone in the draft, but they’re not bringing in a guy like Flacco (or even Foles) to replace him.

If I were Tyrod, backing up DeShaun Watson is probably the best gig available. He would allow for some continuity in the game plan were Watson to go down and after playing in Cleveland and Buffalo, a dome in Houston has got to look pretty nice for him. Baltimore or Carolina would be acceptable fallback options, but there’s not much in terms of starter roles that are all that interesting unless Jacksonville somehow manages to avoid having their defense implode.

Foles seems like a guy Elway would target, and could be a fit. I have no idea what that offense will look like though.

Flacco seems like a fit for Miami or Jacksonville where he would have a shot at being a long term starter while they develop a rookie behind him.

With Teddy, it seems like Washington or Carolina (if Cam is hurt) on a one year deal to take the next step in rebuilding his value would make the most sense. Tannehill might make some sense for this type of situation as well.

Bortles... I would think he’ll catch on as a backup somewhere or get signed after someone goes down and a team is desperate.
