Mid-Startup OBJ trade

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Mid-Startup OBJ trade

Postby Prison_Mike » Fri Jan 18, 2019 7:27 am

(I'm on the clock in a slow draft - 12team, .5ppr, 1QB)

In short, which side would you take:

OBJ + 2.6 (startup) - Would probably leave me with OBJ + one of: D. Cook/Conner/Chubb/Bell
or
Melvin Gordon + 2.2(startup) - (Would probably take Gordon + Evans)

Details:

I have the 11th pick.
The guy who has the 6th pick took OBJ.

He's now interested in JuJu instead of OBJ - (I would need to draft Juju at 11 in this scenario)
We would then swap OBJ for Juju and we would swap our 2nd rounders giving him the 2.2 & giving me the 2.6

Other top players on the board:

Melvin Gordon (that's where I'm leaning)
Juju (obvi)
Julio Jones
Mixon
Evans

I'd stick with what you have, unless you like OBJ that much.

Actually, I'd rather have OBJ and Chubb than JuJu and Evans/Gordon. It's all close though

Man, are rookie picks in this draft? I feel like rookie pick value would be so tough to gauge in a startup pre-combine/draft.

26 upman rosters - full point ppr

QB: Watson, Flacco Stidham
RB: Bijan, Gibbs, McLaughlin
WR: Olave, Addison, Flowers, Rice, Sutton, Downs, Mims, Tillman

Thanks I took Gordon.
We'll see what's there at the turn - maybe revisit.

What are your thoughts on OBJ?
Still finished as the WR15 this year despite missing 3 (fantasy) games

He seems QB proof & I have to imagine they address that this year by taking Haskins - although we would have assumed that last year too lol

He's interested in Juju and Evans, one of which will likely fall to me at 2.02
So I'll probably try to revisit the trade - maybe give him Juju for OBJ, Swap 4ths, and throw him a late rounder

Which would give me OBJ & Gordon

No sir. We're doing the inverse of the startup draft for the rookie draft so I'll have the 1.02

We've caught a lot of flack for doing it this way but I don't mind it.
I think it's pretty fair

(I'm not biased just because I have the 1.2 lol - I had another startup recently where I ended up with the 1.09 by doing it this way and I still think it's fair. It may not be the best way, but I don't hate it)

I would much rather have obj+chubb than mg3+Evans personally.

:wtf: I'd want 1.12 in the startup all day with that. Can't stand that idea.

Ended up getting OBJ + Gordon

Took Gordon at 1.11 & Juju at 2.02

Gave: Juju and my 3.11-(startup pick)
Got: OBJ and his 4.06-(startup pick)

Still able to keep my 4.02

Yes me too. I would leave a league if I didn't have that 1.12 spot. Imagine last year getting to draft the 1.12/2.1 players and then topping it off with Saquon?

I'm confused why you had to add to Juju since the OBJ owner came to you wanting to swap players. I think they're somewhat close straight up, so the fact he approached you should have worked in your favor.

Haha that's true.
Good thing there's no Saquon-caliber player in this draft.
I'm not mad sitting at 1.2

Yeah, that's a good point. And I wish I had considered that at the time.
But I would much rather have OBJ personally - and with no chance at him falling to 11, I didn't mind having to fall back a few spots later on in order to make the swap.
